The blockbuster film Titanic has brought millions of dollars and thousands of people to the theaters and continues to touch people today in their homes. Why is this film so successful? It is a combination of many different things. Among these are many different elements. Looking at some of these elements will show how the director and others involved were able to create an emotionally charged movie that appealed to millions.
The film uses one thematic(主题的) element called The Truth of Human Nature. The two main characters seem to represent noble people. Most of the other characters in the film are shown as non-tolerant, rude and cold-hearted people. The element of focusing on the two main characters' love and emotion seems symbolic of an ideal state.
There are also social problems addressed. This is done in a few different ways. The most noticeable way is that the lower class people remain locked in the basement as the ship goes down. Throughout Titanic, the lighting is very important. The poor, lower class people are always shown in very warm-coloured light that gives them a sense of life and happiness. On the other hand, the rich, upper class are always shown in a flat light portraying the feeling of hardness and coldness. By using these techniques, they show the issue of class segregation(种族隔离), and they create stereotypes. The main characters are able to break free of these stereotypes and be together. This is the solution to the segregation problem.
As you can see, Titanic took a lot of thinking and preparation to film in a manner that would create emotion and bring to the surface the issues and story of the great ship.

The greatest recent social changes have been in the lives of women. During the twentieth century there has been a remarkable shortening of the proportion of a woman's life spent in caring for children. A woman marrying at the end of the nineteenth century would probably have been in her middle twenties, and would be likely to have seven or eight children, of whom four or five lived till they were five years old. By the time the youngest was fifteen, the mother would have been in her early fifties and would expect to live a further twenty years, during which customs, opportunity and health made it unusual for her to get paid work. Today women marry younger and have fewer children. Today the school-leaving age is sixteen, many girls stay at school after that age, and though women tend to marry younger, more married women stay at work at least until shortly before their first child is born. Very many more afterwards return to full-or-part-time work. Such changes have led to a new relationship in marriage: with the husband accepting a greater share of the duties and satisfactions of family life, and with both husband and wife sharing more equally in providing the money, and running the home, according to the abilities and interests of each of them.

The cheapest room and board in Jefferson City, Missouri，over the weekend was at the county(县)jail(监狱)，and 170 people gladly checked in．Cole County charged$30 a night for anyone who volunteered to go behind bars on Friday or Saturday night SO officials could give the new jail a test run before it opened for real this week．People from three states spent the night at the jail，including some lawyers and a couple celebrating their first anniversary．

Malaysia has launched a fleet of women-only taxis，a project that follows pink-coloured train carriages and buses aimed at protecting women from harassment，reports said Sunday．Fifty women taxi drivers have started shuttling greater Kuala Lumpur(吉隆坡)on an on-call basis，and the government hopes the number of special taxis will expand to 400．
According to Heng Seai Kei，deputy minister for the state’s Women，Family and Community Development，the taxis made travelling safer for women，as well as providing jobs for women who wanted to be taxi drivers．“We hope it will reduce the number of rape and robbery cases involving taxi drivers and female victims，” Heng said at the launch of the service．The idea was to have taxis that were “driven by women，for women”．
The service would also help create job opportunities for women，especially single mothers，housewives and pensioners，who were looking for another source of income for their family．The ministry and Abex Manufacturing Sdn Bhd are providing training and courses for those who were interested to become female taxi drivers，said Heng．
One of the taxi drivers Faridah Idris，38，said the service provided women a safer option to travel in．“Women passengers are normally more comfortable with US．For female drivers，there are always risks when picking up passengers，especially at night．With this project，both female drivers and passengers can feel safer,” she said．
Late last year, Malaysia’s state-owned bus company began running female-only buses on several routes in Kuala Lumpur during peak hours to help prevent sexual harassment on crowded public transport．They followed ladies-only pink train carriages launched on the transport system to give the women in the Muslim-majority country the option of travelling separately from men．
