2、onzemask,andatoweringbronzeholytree;allofthemareunparalleledtreasures.moreovertherearemanygoldwaresandjadewares,andmanyofthemarethefirsteverseenoftheirkind.alltheserelicsprovedthatsanxingduiwasthecapitaloftheancientshukingdommorethan3,000yearsago.now,ladiesandgentlemen,iwouldliketointroduceyouoneoft
3、hemostuniqueandgrotesquerelicsinthemuseum-thebronzemaskwithprotrudingeyes.everybody,pleasewatchthemaskcarefully.itis78centimeterswide,82.5centimetershighandontheforeheadthereisadragon-shapedcrown,whichis68-centimeterslong.themask’seyeballsarequitestrange,right。theyarenotthenormaleyeballs,butlooklike
4、twobulgingcircularcylinders,andeachthrustingoutwardabout10cm.theearsarealsostange,theyareverybigandstretchoutonbothsides.actually,themaskishalfhumanbeingshalfanimals.soyoumayfeelconfused:whatwastheirprototypeororigin。whymusttheybeexpressedinsuchway。theanswermayliesinthehistory.3000yearsago,sanxingdu
5、iwasthecapitaloftheshukingdomandcancongwasthefirstruler.sotheshupeopleregardedcancongastheirancestraldeity.accordingtowrittenrecordsintheshukingdom’schronicle,itsays:“canconghadprotrudingeyes”.inthepast,scholarswereveryconfusedoftheterm“protrudingeyes”,becausetheydidnotknowwhatitreallymeant.inordert
6、oexplainit,alotofspeculativetheorieswereinvented.butnoneofthemwereconvincing.nowwiththeexcavationofthismask,mostarcheologistsagreethatthetermshouldrefertotheappearanceofthemask.theybelievethatthemaskrepresentstheimageofcancong,thefirstruleroftheshukingdom..everybody,doyouagreetheexplanation。ifyoudon
7、’t,hereiwanttoshareotherspeculationswithyou.oneopinionisthemaskisassociatedwithsomefolklore.becausetheexaggeratedeyesandearsarethemostimpressivefeaturesofthemask.sosomearcheologistbelievedthattheseimagessymbolizetheso-calledthousand-mileeyeandwind-accompanyingearinchinesefolklore.anotheropinionistha
