A few days ago I got a call from my old college friend whom I haven’t seen for a very long time. The topic was about all the good old times that we had and about his recent graduation, but he changed to a moving story when he started talking about his father.
His father’s bad health made him stay at the hospital. Because of his illness, his father suffered from insomnia(失眠) and often talking to himself. My friend had not been able to sleep for a few days as he had to keep watching his father’s condition, he became angry and told his father to keep silence and try to get some sleep. His father said that he really wanted to sleep well because he was very tired and told my friend to leave him alone in the hospital if he did not want to be with him.
After his father finished talking ,he fell unconscious(失去知觉) and had to be rushed to ICU. My friend was very sorry for he had spoken ill words towards his father.

There are several skydiving (跳伞) centers in the United States. Skydiving can be a safe sport with the right instruction. Before taking your first jump, you need to learn the safety rules. I remember my maths teacher Mr Young very well. He stood out because the kids made fun of him. He was missing one of his fingers. In school Maths was my worst subject. I don’t think there was ever a day I went to school that I was not afraid.
One day, I was told that if I got one more E on my report card, my parents would be called to school.
I tried really hard for weeks to learn Maths. I just couldn’t understand how to make different parts of numbers into whole things; my brain just couldn’t do it, no matter how hard I tried.
The day before report cards were to come out, I knew that Mr Young would give me an E, just like he always did.
After class ended, I went to Mr Young and told him what would happen if I got another E. He told me there was nothing he could do; it would be unfair to the other kids if he gave me a better grade than I had actually earned.
