There are many differences between Chinese eating habits and Western eating habits. In the West, everyone has their own 1 of food. But in China the dishes are 2 on the table and everyone shares. In the past, the main difference on the Chinese dinner table was chopsticks instead of knife and fork. But nowadays it's a little different from that. Because in some Chinese restaurants, you can also ask for a pair of knife and fork, if you find the chopsticks not helpful enough. The real difference is that in western countries you have your own plate of food, while in China the dishes are on the table and everyone shares.
In China, the meal usually starts with at least four cold dishes, and then there will be main courses(主菜) of hot meat and vegetable dishes. Staple foods(主食) will follow the soup. Usually the staple foods are rice, noodles and dumplings.
