英语中，当三者或三者以上的人或物进行比较时，需用最高级。形容词的最高级前面要加定冠词the，副词最高级前面的the可以省略。需特别注意的是多音节的形容词和副词最高级的构成是：the most +adj./ adv. ，另外， 同学们还要谨记不规则的变化方法。在含有最高级的句子中，常有一个in/of/among短语来表示比较范围。一最高级的构成A + be + adj.最高级 + in/of/among + 范围 A + V.+ adv.最高级 + in/of/among + 范围例句：1.
