As time goes, I have experienced many things. And they made me happy or unhappy. Many of them I have forgotten. But I will never forget Spring Festival in 2004!
During that Spring Festival, the whole city was filled with festive atmosphere except my family because my parents were in hospital in another city.
I remembered clearly at the beginning of 2004 when my father and mother went out to do business, they said they would be back in three days. On the third day, when my brothers and I were happily waiting for my parents’ return, the telephone rang. After answering the telephone, we cried. There happened a traffic accident on my parents’ way home! My parents were hurt seriously!
The Spring Festival is the traditional festival in China. It stands for reunion. But how dreary it was in my family! I missed my parents very much. I wished my parents could come back immediately, but it was impossible. On the New Years’ Eve, when every family was eating dumplings, I myself was trying my best to make dumplings for my brothers. How unlucky my family was!
However , I learned a lot.. I came to know how hard my parents had been! From then on, I promised I would take good care of my parents forever!

My name is Li Ming. I am studying at college. A week ago I saw a traffic accident , which is still vivid in my mind.
　　It was at about 9:00 on Saturday morning, June 15th, when I went out of the university to visit a friend of mine at another university. I was walking leisurely on the sidewalk when I heard a loud crash. Two taxis crashed together just at the crossing about 20 meters away from me.
I went up and found that the two taxis were badly damaged. One driver was blooding and the other was stuck in the taxi. Some people were trying to help the driver get out of the damaged car. One man was calling to the traffic policeman station. A lot of cars were jammed on the road.
　　Judging by the braking mark on the road, it was clear that both drivers were driving too fast. and that’s just one of the reasons. Therefore, we should let drivers keep it in their minds that nine out of ten traffic accidents result from fast driving. Taking care of others’ lives means taking care of your own life.

3. 西部开发 New Development for Central and Western China
The Chinese government has recently decided to develop central and western China. This part of China includes 9 provinces and autonomous regions and one municipality, covering an area of 5.4 million square kilometers with a population of 285 million.
The government will pay special attention to their transportation system. Some highways and railways will be built. To protect nature, farmers will return farmland to forest. Also, measures should be taken to prevent pollution. Western China is rich in natural resources, which can be exploited and made full use of. To meet the needs for the development, all kinds of experts and skilled workers are to be brought in.
We have every reason to believe that the efforts made by the government will be a great success. As a result of the great project, the central and western regions of China will surely achieve greater and faster development in the new century. People there will have a better life and China will surely be richer and stronger.

Nowadays, some universities give students the right to choose the teachers they like. This has led to some debate over whether students should be given this power.
　　There are several factors that students consider when choosing a lecturer, including the teaching style of the lecturer, the lecturer’s academic background, and the lecturer’s reputation among students. The ideal lecturer is one who has an interesting teaching style, a diverse academic background, and a good reputation among students.
　　Allowing students to choose their lecturers has both positive and negative aspects. Giving students the choice encourages them to take ownership for their classes, and also puts pressure on teachers to improve their teaching quality. However, the factors that students consider might not be the ones that lead to the highest quality of education. Schools might end up with lecturers who teach interesting classes without much content.

Recreational activities and study do not contradict each other; in fact, they complement each other. As the saying goes, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." Proper recreation would relieve the tension and discomfort of our monotonous life
What I usually do to relax after class is jogging and seeing movies. Usually I don't spare time for computer games for if I were absorbed in them , I wouldn’t have enough time to study. So keeping a balance between recreational activities and study is important.
To sum up, I strongly voice all the evidence justifies an unshakable view that our trans-century college students should choose recreational activities appropriately. Therefore, in a sense, only when we pay close attention to it can we see a meaningful, extraordinary and harmonious future sooner or later.

As is shown in the table, there have been great changes in people’s diet between 1986 and 1990. from the table we can find that grain,, formerly the main food of most Chinese people, is now playing a less important role in their diet. And the same goes for fruit and vegetables. Meanwhile, the consumption of high-nutrition food such as milk and meat has increased rapidly.
There are mainly three reasons for the changes. First, people are much wealthier than before. Second, they have realized the importance of a balanced diet to their health. Finally, owing to the economic reform, meat and milk, which were scarce in the past, are produced in large quantities.
Although milk and meat are important to one’s health, eating too much rich food may result in obesity and many other diseases. Therefore, people should not only eat milk and meat but also grain, fruit and vegetables for the sake of their health.

7. Film is giving way to TV
You may have noticed that fewer people today prefer going to the cinema. Instead they watch TV at home. And this phenomenon is proved by the above graph. It shows that from 1975 to 1985，the number of TV watchers increased steadily, while the number of film-goers dramatically decreased.
There are at least two reasons for this trend. First, there is always one TV program that satisfies your taste. Secondly, watching TV at home saves money and the trouble of going out.
However, a small number of people enjoy movies. TV can never replace films for these people. For them, the film always has its unique charm including the cinema’s atmosphere.
As we know, no dish suits all tastes. Similarly, while many people prefer watching TV at home, a few like go to the cinema.

8. On Volunteering Activities
In recent years, the volunteering spirit has spread among the Chinese people, especially among youngsters. Statistics show there were about 1,700,000 volunteers offering service for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Volunteering is of great benefits to both those in need and the society. Olympic Games are a good example. Without the volunteers , it would be a tough task to hold this un-precedent Olympic Games. Therefore, we can say that it was those volunteers who ensured the success of these games。
　　As college students, we should get actively involved in volunteering activities. By participating, we can learn how to work well in a team, how to improve our interpersonal skills and organizational ability. Undoubtedly, all of these are critical for our own growth. So, we
