Vocational education
In modern society, people always attach much importance on education.
Education, as an effective way of knowing the world well, helps people acquire varies of knowledge in relatively short time. When a person steps into the society to get a decent job, he has to enrich himself with enough professional knowledge at school. And generally speaking, better education, better job.
In the past few years, because of our education system and some other reasons, most students will insist to take the college entrance examination by this way they can enter the college that has all kinds of academic subjects, and finally get an academic candidate, which means a high-paid job. If they unluckily failed the exam, then they will consider the vocational school.
However, there is some phenomenon appeared in our eyes. That is more and more people, especially high school students, are tended to go to vocational school instead of joining the college entrance examination. Vocational education seems to be highly thought in the recent years. Many people even think that vocational education is more important than college education. What’s more, it is reported that our government is aiming to boost the economy and employment by cultivating a large force of technical workers through enhanced vocational education. The emphasis on vocational education has suggested efforts to diversify young people's choices because college graduates have had a hard time landing desired jobs in recent years. The concept is going to change and it is time to reconsider the vocational education. According to the Ministry of Education, 7.27 million university students will enter the job market this year. That figure is 280,000 more than in 2013, a year already labeled the most difficult employment season on record. Latest statistics from the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission show that the total number of graduates in Shanghai in 2014 will be 178,000, the same as in 2013. But only 20 percent of the city's university graduates had signed employment contracts as of the end of March. In contrast, vocational schools graduates are enjoying better opportunities. Obviously, there is rising demand for graduates from vocational schools in job market, and those students are popular among employers. And going to the university is no longer the only way to find a good job.
Besides, college is great, but it's not for everyone. The promising people who are just not good at exams should not be shut out. While many jobs require a college degree these days, the trades are still a more than viable career choice. Learn what vocational training is required to get a job that pays well, but doesn't necessarily require a college degree.
From my point of view, underlining vocational education implies the continual development of our economy. As we all know, our country has relied on its manpower to become the world's factory, but now we have to upgrade our technical skills to become an innovative economy. The fact is only those who fail to be enrolled by universities will choose vocational schools and colleges, leading to a lack of quality students in these institutions. But now, to some extent, maximizing vocational education also stresses technical training should be integrated with academic education. With this situation, a huge well-skilled labor force will transform “made in China” into “high quality manufacturing”.
