在MPA复试的英语面试阶段，一些对考生英语能力要求较高的院校会在要求考生做自我介绍、问一些常规问题之
后，要求考生就一些独立性话题进行陈述，有点类似雅思考试的口语第二部分，老师在此为大家提供一些常考的人
物类话题模板，供考生参考。
1、 Could you please describe the person you admire most in your life?
The person I admire most is my mother, who takes excellent care of me though she is quite busy. First of all, she is a very talented person who makes great achievements in her work and gets a pretty good balance between family and work. She often cooks delicious food for the family on the weekends. Secondly, she is a well-educated and elegant lady, who could tolerant different opinions from other people. Thirdly, she is quite warm-hearted. She often saves some money and donates all of them to the people who may need them. Her behavior and her way of thinking make me want to be someone like her. That's why my mother is the person I admire most.
2、 Could you please describe your favorite teacher in your university?
My favorite teacher is Mrs. Zhao, who taught Macroeconomics and supervised my thesis. She is so knowledgeable and takes time out to explain everything until everyone understands. She knows which student needs extra assistance and knows when she needs to change her communicating techniques to be sure that students can grasp abstract concepts. Specially, when she supervised my thesis, she was quite patient and told me which kind of journals and articles I should read when doing research and preparing the literature review. After I wrote the outline and the first draft, she taught me how to polish it to make it better and more appropriate. Her supervision helped me to become aware of how to write a good thesis. Just like an old saying "Give me a fish and I eat for a day, teach me to fish and I eat for a life time." That's why Mrs. Zhao is my
favorite teacher in my university.
3、 What kind of friend do you think is a good friend?
In my opinion, a good friend should possess the personalities such as trustworthy, helpful and positive. First and foremost, a trustworthy person is someone whom I can rely on especially when I encounter difficulties. He or she will be just a phone call away to get me out of trouble. Secondly, he or she should be someone who can give me some suggestions when I lose my mind. I still could remember that I had a bad experience on my job hunting. I was so sad during the period and my friend Linda just sat beside me, listened to me, and inspired me by saying that I deserved a second chance and that I should never push myself too hard. After communicating with her, I felt much better and realized that I could overcome the dark days with her encouragement. Lastly, a good friend should be someone who is always positive. Although we often say "hope for the best and prepare for the worst", we seldom do it when face with difficulties. Then a friend with a positive mind would make us believe that it is right to obey the rule. Overall, I'd like to quote a famous saying that a friend in need is a friend indeed.
4、 What kinds of personalities do you think a good leader should have?
In my opinion, a good leader should possess the following personalities. Firstly, a good leader should be wise and strategic. He or she needs make critical calls at assorted points in their organization. Having the knowledge to make the correct call is crucial in making sure the organization is successful. Secondly, a good leader is usually a great orator and persuader. They're very comfortable with public speaking and are very inspiring people. Thirdly, a good leader should be persistent and disciplined. They are determined in attaining their goals and they are very controlled in the pursuit of their goals. Those are the three main personalities that a good leader should have.

1. The importance of having a vision
Effective leaders and their organizations usually have an agenda, A Vision as a direction and an attractive and attainable picture of the future. Good leaders should know where you are going; otherwise you would be irrelevant to your followers. With a vision, you can inspire and motivate other individuals and groups to new heights, which is an essential function of a good leader.
2. The significance of communication
As living beings, we need to express and understand the expressions of others. Like it or not, the human society thrives on communication. Civilizations have risen and fallen based upon how good they were at maintaining sound relations with
the rest of the world. Communication is, indeed, the very lubricant that makes the machinery of human relations function smoothly. Therefore, the significance of communication cannot and should not be underestimated. Sometimes, difficult situations in life can be resolved by just sitting down and talking it out! Similarly, most personal, professional and social disasters can be averted by maintaining clear, appropriate and unambiguous communication. All we need is some effort on our part to identify and avoid barriers to effective communication to make our lives and the lives of those around us better.
3. A book that is valuable to you
When I have spare time, I like reading books and my favorite one is Gone with the Wind written by Margaret Mitchell. The story is set in Clayton County, Georgia and Atlanta during the American Civil War and Reconstruction. It depicts the experiences of Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to come out of the poverty. It is also the source of the extremely popular 1939 film of the same name. When I was reading the book, I was deeply fascinated by it. In the end of the story, troubles, lives and hopes all gone, just as its name suggested. I was surprised that a book could contain such a complicated story. Characters in the story were so vivid as if they had been going to jump out of the book, as if they had been existed in the real life in the history. The story reminds us of valuing everything that we own. A life lasts for a short time and everything in it lasts shorter.
4. Your favorite music
My favorite music is Halo sung by Beyonce, an American recording artist and actress. I loves this song because of the following reasons. Firstly, it relaxes my mind when I am under pressure. Further, I always have a greater efficiency after listening to this music as it is really fabulous. In addition, by listening to music, I could improve my listening skills in English to some extent.
5. Outdoor sports
I am a fan of outdoor sports due to the following reasons. Firstly, sports like jogging could relax my mind and help me keep fit. Secondly, these activities offer me the opportunity to embrace the fresh air and the nature. Lastly, outdoor activities are a chance for me to widen my network of friends.
6. The most eMPArrassing moment
The most difficult moment that I've ever had was when I prepared for the Graduate student entrance examination. It became so hard for me since I'd never had a chance to talk in English for quite a long time. I could barely open my mouth; let alone, how to cover the whole test within the time limitation. I was rather upset and almost lost my heart. My friend Tracy saw me one day and she inspired me by saying that if I couldn't overcome that task, how could I survive in future competition and make my dream come true. All of a sudden, I realized how small this task would be in the whole process of making my dream come true. She also suggested that I should make a well-organized plan to divide my goal into several little parts, which is attractive and attainable. And just like that, for the first time, I thought it was not that hard and I gradually had a faith in conquering this. Step by step and day by day, the more I practiced, the more confidence I gained.
