1．My family
There are seven people in my family。 They’re my grandfather， grandmother, father， mother， my elder sisters and I。 My grandparents are in their eighties， but they look healthy and energetic。 My father is a policeman。 He's busy working everyday。 My mother is an English teacher in a primary school。 Besides her teaching， she cooks meals， washes clothes for all of us。 My sister is a nurse in a big hospital, and she likes her job very much。 I’m learning in the TV University now and every member in my family supports me a lot in my study and life。
2．Private cars
In recent years, with the improvement of life condition, more and more families have private cars。
As the saying goes, “A coin has two sides。” On the one hand， the private cars provide convenience for our lives. People can drive the cars getting around the city easily。 On the other hand， with the sharp increase of private cars, the air pollution becomes worse; the traffic jam is more serious； the road accidents more frequently occur。 Moreover, it is hard to find a place to park the car and it is costly too。 So， if possible, take a walk instead of a drive.
3．Health and Wealth
Health and wealth, which one is more important？ Different people have different opinions about it。 Some think that wealth means everything。 With a lot of money, they can buy a big house, an expensive car， beautiful clothes, and so on. On the other hand， some other people believe that health is more important than wealth。 A healthy body is the foundation for a successful career and the base for getting wealth.
For me， I think health is much more important than wealth； it is unwise to spend one’s health buying his wealth.
4。 My Favorite TV program
CCTV today offers a great variety of programs to meet different needs and tastes。 For example， the weather forecast， serials， films， sports and so on。 My favorite TV program， however， is the news. First， it covers news about important events both at home and abroad。 Second, the news it provides is timely and reliable. Finally, it broadcasts in the evening during the so—called “golden time”。 It saves me much time reading through newspapers. In short, watching the news on CCTV at 7:00pm has become part of my daily life.
5. My Favorite Food
My favorite food is Jiaozi. It is a traditional Chinese food。 I think many Chinses people like eating Jiaozi， especially, for people living in the north of China。 There are different kinds of Jiao zi: there are meat Jiaozi， seafood Jiaozi, and vegetable Jiaozi. Jiaozi can be boiled and steamed. On the eve of Spring Festival, Chinese family members make Jiaozi together to pray a good luck in the next year。 The atmosphere is happy and harmonious。 Jiaozi is so delicious that many foreigners like eating Jiaozi in China.
6. The Job I Like
Everybody has his dream for his career in the future. He or she might want to be a teacher， a doctor， a scientist, and so on。 My ideal job is to be a lawyer。 Lawyers, especially those familiar with international laws and fluent in foreign languages, will be in great demand。 I hav a good eye for detail， a sharp mind and an excellent memory。 So I think I would make a good lawyer. I am planning to open a lawyer firm by myself some day。 But now I have to study hard to achieve my goal。
7。 The Chinese New Year
The Chinese New Year is also called the Spring Festival. It falls on January of February. Like Christmas, it is also a family occasion。 On the New Year’s Eve, all family members will sit together, enjoying a ‘reunion’ dinner. On the New Year’s Day， friends and relatives will call on each other, exchanging best wishes for good health， good fortune and good luch. Nowadays， these New Year visits are often replaced by telephone calls， text messages or emails among young people. The New Year celebrations may last several days.
8。 Advantages and Disadvantages of the Mobile Phone
The mobile phone has influenced our life in many ways. There are two points of view on the use of mobile phones。
On the one hand, mobile phones make it easier for us to communicate with each other。 They can promote friendship. And in case of need, they can be a great help。
On the other hand， we neet less often after using mobile phones. We are no longer as colse to each other as before. Besides， the rediation of mobile phones may harm our health。
9． About Friendship
We all need friends。 We cannot imagine what life would be like without friends。 We can always count on our friends when we need help. We can always share our joys and sorrows with our friends。 However, when our friends need help, we should always be ready to give them a hand。 If we think of our friends only when we are in trouble， there will be no true friends for us. A friend in need is a friend indeed。 Friendship lasts only between true friends。
10．About English Study
I started to learn English when I was a middle school student。 English has been one of my favorite subjects， and I have made a lot of progress in my English study。 I have always made good use of all opportunities to practice English. For example I like to sing English songs and listen English short stories. And when I meet any foreigners， I like to speak to them in English。 The more I practice, the more interested I become in learning English.
11．My Dream
I had a dream when I was a little boy。 I wanted to go to college。 How I longed to go to college like my friends! But I could not because I had to work after I finished middle school。 Four years ago, a friend told me that I could go to college while working. So I started my college study at the Radio and TV University. I feel so happy that my dream has come true. I love my university and I am proud to be a TV university student.
12．Living in a Big Family
My family is very big。 There are seven people in my family， my grandparents， my uncle， my aunt and me. During the daytime， only my grandparents stay at home. And evening is the best time of the interesting things we hear at work。 After supper， we often go to visit friends and relatives or go out for a picnic in the park nearby。 We love each other ang live happily together.
13．Why I Like Learning English
I like learning English. This is because I can do many more things if I master English. English is a world language。 If you know English, you can go anywhere in the word, make a lot more friends, and learn more about the world we live in。 For me, I like to learn English mainly because I need to use English at work. I am doing export business and have clients all over the world. So English helps me do my work better. As a matter of fact, I earn more because I know English！
14．The Experience I will not Forget
I used to be absent—minded。 The first time I went to a concert with my girlfriend， I left the tickets at home. So I had to go bank for the tickets。 On the we were one hour late for the concert. You can sorry I felt. But since then I have never been absentminded again。 So my girlfriend said an event which seemed bad might turn out to be good。
15．My Family Life
Like most ordinary Chinese families， my family life is busy and meaningful. My family members often get up at about 6：30am。 I drive my daughter to her school, then I go to my work。 My wife takes subway to her company。 Around 4:30 p。m.， I pick up my daughter and do some grocery shopping. My wife is good at cooking. So when we arrive home， a delicious meal is waiting for us。 During the eating, we chat about the interesting things in the daytime. After the supper， we watch TV program a while and go to bed at 10 p。m。
16． The Advantages of Hosting the Olympic Games
There are many advantages of hosting the Olympic Games. First， it has a major effect on the economy. It will create many opportunities come to the games and the host city will quicken is construction of infrastructure. Third， it can arouse common people’s interest in English。 As a result， it is good for our fellow—citizens to improve their English. We will hold 29th Olympic Games in Beijing. The great changes have been amazing in the city. Therefore， I think hosting the Olympic Games is rewarding.
17． High School Life and College Life
High School Life is quite different from college life. In high school, students have to wear school uniform. Teachers always ask students to do many tasks in the classroom. In a college, students have to be responsible for themselves. They have more freedom than those in high school。 For example， they put on the casual clothes instead of uniform。 Tutors give them lectures and assignments, and they must spend more time studying by themselves in the library。 That means students must manage themselves very well。 Although I often recall my high school life， I like college life more.
