一． 冠词的种类
冠词用于名词之前，是说明名词所表示的人或事物的一种虚词，不能离开名词单独存在。冠词有不定冠词、定冠词和零冠词三种形式。
不定冠词包括a和an，用于单数可数名词前，表示泛指，说明名词的名称和种类，意思是“一”。a和an的意义和作用是一样的，但用法不同，a用在以辅音音素开头的单词前，an用在以元音因素开头的单词前。
定冠词只有the，用于各类名词前，表示特指，意思是“这”或“那”。
零冠词是指不用冠词，表示名词的特指或泛指。
二． 冠词的用法
（一） 不定冠词的基本用法
不定冠词的用法主要有以下几种：1.相当于数量词“一”，但语气不如one强烈；2.表示单位，相当于“每”；3.代表一类人或物；4.泛指一类人或物中的某一个；5.用于某些固定词组中。
（二） 定冠词的基本用法
1.用在特定的人或物前；2.用在上文提到的人或物前；3.用在世界上独一无二的事物前；4.用在表示乐器名词前；5.用在集合名词前，表示一个整体；6.用在序数词、形容词最高级或副词最高级前；7.用在形容词前，表示复数意义的某一类或物；8.用在姓氏的复数前，指一家人或夫妇两人；9.用在公共建筑、机关团体和组织等名词前；10.用在一些习惯用语中。
（三）零冠词的用法
1.国名、地名、人名等专有名词前通常不用冠词；2.季节、月份、星期等名词前不加冠词；3.在表示一日三餐、球类运动和娱乐运动的名词前不加冠词；4.名词前已有this,that,my,his,every,some等词修饰时，不用冠词；5.在一些习惯用语中不用冠词。
