Although our English teaching has gotten much progress , we still face many difficulties ,especially in rural middle school. There are still a lot of stud

5、ents with difficulties in learning English . In this paper, I will illusrate the present situation of English learning and analysis the reasons of the existing of the students with difficulties in learning English in rural middle school,by taking Xuhan Xian Cheng Xi Middle School as an example. Then

6、 offer some methods of changing the present situation so teachers can culture good learning motivation ;study habits and learning methods that students can strengthen their confidence and improve their grades. 17、the informatization of our social life and the globalization of our economic activities, English is becoming an important tool for contacting with the outside world. The datum show that more than 70 precent scientists read English , 85 precent E-mail are written in English and that 90 precent electr

18、o-searching systems store imformation in English.Now English is a compulsory basic subjects in middle school in China and it plays a more and more important role in our daily life. For several decades struggling , our English teaching has developed and made some progress in all aspects including tea

19、ching methods ,teaching level ,teaching device and so on. But English teaching remains a lot of problems, such as behindhand equipment and out-of-date teaching methods,especially in rural middle school.Though English teaching is taken seriously and from primary school, we begin to learn English, the

20、re are still a large amount of students with difficulties in learning English . For all kinds of reasons , when students move on to grade two and three , the polarizing phenomenon gets worse and worse . The number of the students with difficulties in learning English takes up over 40 percent or even

21、 worse . If this situation cant be changed , it will affect their later English learning and their development . This problem has been perplexing the teachers in rural middle school .So how to chang this kind of students is a hot point .Yet Some teachers and scholars have made some research and know

22、n that their basic four skills: lisening, speaking, reading and writing are bad and their small vocabulary . We still need to analyse earnestly, find out the reasons and strategies. II. The universality of the existence of students with diffilcuties in learning English With the development of societ

23、y , English is playing an important role in our life .People pay much attention to students English learning. But for the pressure of entering a higher school, a part of teacher and parents only care about the scores and ignore the development of the emotion and ability. Meanwhile, the students have

24、 bad study habits , lower learning interests and insuitable learning methods . These kinds of reasons result in parts of students having diffilculties in learning English. A. Definition of students with learning difficultiesStudents with learning diffilcuties refer to this group of students who do p

25、oorly in their study caused by teachers , family or themself. It is usually divided into two kinds-intellectual students with learning difficulties and unintelligent students with learning diffilculties.The former one refers to the students were born to unintelligence or are unintelligent for some d

26、isease . On the contrary ,the later one refers to the students cant reach to the besic requirements setted by teaching program but caused by their postnatal or extraneous factors. And in our teaching activity , we meet the later students more.And students with difficulties in learning English we tal

The present situation of students with difficulties in learning English in rural middle school In rural area, the family have little income and both parents work outside when they lack of farm work or even the whole year worki

28、ng outside. And then their children become left-behind children. They lack of caring and guidence in study,expecially some parents are influenced by useless reading so that they pay not enough attention on students English learning . Though a part of students make a point of English learning , thay

29、dont have correct ways and most students dont learn English in primary school .Comparing to the students in the city , They have already started in the beginning of distance learning. In the course of time, they become Underachievers . As to the teachers in rural area , their expirence , academic qu

30、alifications and enthusiasm are not as good as the teachters in city. Meanwhile , the number of the class is too large so as to the poor students and the teachter is difficult to put a tutor in every place .Even some students are left out in the cold, they gradually lose enthusiasm for learning Engl

31、ish.In addition , some students have just started to learn English like others , but after a period of time , they lose confidence in learning English due to various reasons .After class , they often dont finish the homework ,dont do a good review , get a bad score and gradually hate learning Englis

32、h .They wander in the classroom, do other things, some people even skip school situation.C. The characteristics of students with difficulties in learning English in rural middle schoolStudents with English learning difficulties in learning habits and learning quality mainly has following obvious cha

33、racteristics2. 1. Lack of interest and initiative in learning English Research shows that, the various factors that influence learning ratio is: learning habits accounted for 33%, accounting for 26% of learning interest, intelligence factors accounted for 15%, family influence accounted for 5%, othe

34、r factors accounted for 21%.Visiblely, next to learning habits , interest is the important factor influencing learning effects. Because of the limitted teachters and equipment , they dont have English classes and any interest . After a considerable period , they couldnt understand , have more and mo

35、re problems and their grades are getting worse and then their confidence suffered a serious setback and have no learning initiative.2. No clear learning objectives and lack of stability in will and character As we all know , Rome was not built in one day .A considerable part of the students learning

36、 objectives are not clear and it is difficult to develop a good long-term effective study habits. And they are on the stage of character formation and lack of correct cognition on themselves .If they cant achive their desired goal, they would easily lose their confidence and give up.3. No proper stu

37、dy habits and low learing efficiencyWe can know that students with having good learning effect all have their own effective way of learning. Most students dont want to think and summarize, and they only blindly repeat .Although some people have studied very hard, but most are twice work and half gai

38、n.4. Active and curiosity with little attentionThe main factor causing the classroom efficiency low is that the attention is not centralized. Especially for students with learning difficulties, they are more easily distracted .The classes are still the main channels for knowledge acquisition and the

39、y cant concentrate on the classes is bound to lead to poor academic performance .5. Psychological inferiority English is a kind of language so speaking is very important . I find that students with good grades and good character can easily take part in activies in class . The feeling of being recogn

40、ized makes them more will to learn . But for the poor students , they are free from the outside of the classroom . Some introvert are self-contemptuous . They are afraid of making mistakes and being laughed at because of their unstandard pronuncation . Then they become scanty of words .Another part

41、of students are eager to be understood but with all the fake to hide their inner heart. They violate the discipline in the classroom to get other students attention. The two kinds of bad contradictory ways to learning make their more and more problems. Then they become the poor students . 6. Poor en

42、durance and easy to go to extremes The middle school students are after 90 with superior material conditions of life and lack of exercise . This reduces their abilities to face the frustration. They are easily impulsive and they are easy to get out of control .High demands on others but low request

43、on own . When they have a good mood ,they are energetic and while when they have a bad mood ,they dont think right or wrong . If they like the teacher ,they like the course , or they hate the course . The vairous extreme bad mood affect them to learn more .III.
