In April, 1967 my brother, Harvey Cooley, met a soldier, David Lawson during basic training. In their free time, they hung out together. As the weeks went by, they grew very close, almost like brothers. However, after basic training, soldiers moved on to advanced training. They thought they would never see each other again.
One day in September, 1967, these men were both in California waiting for transport to the front. Harvey and David had an unexpected surprise when they ran into each other. They talked very briefly since they had got to report in five minutes. They agreed to meet after they were discharged(退伍)from the service. Harvey wrote a brief note which he gave to David showing the date and location they were to meet.
Harvey never made it back home. He died while saving two soldiers during enemy fire. David did not learn of Harvey’s death until the mid 1980s. he wrote a letter to Harvey after he returned home and asked if they could postpone their meeting to a later date. His letter was unanswered. David felt then that Harvey must not have made it back. He knew Harvey would surely have answered his letter if he had been able to.
While David was searching the internet for Information about Harvey, he found a poem dedicated(献给) to Harvey by me. He sent me an email and told me about his friendship with Harvey and we swapped phone numbers.
David called me and we talked about his friendship with Harvey. While on the phone with David, I learned about the note Harvey had written for him. David still had the note and sent me a copy of it.

A mother and her daughter have made their wedding day extra special –by having a joint ceremony
Kim Milhano, 28, and Susan Scott Williams, 51, got married together after their partners suggested the best friends share their special day. The pair, who are often mistaken for sisters, combined their weddings at a hotel near their homes in Bristol. Mother-of-two Kim said, “Sharing my big day with another bride could make it feel half as special but it actually brought us double the joy. My mum and I are the best mates and so the whole day was perfect.”
Kim, a care assistant, and her husband Carlos, 45, a construction worker, had been engaged for eight years but never got round to tying the knot. It was only when her mother found live for the second time that her new partner Barry, 46, a painter and decorator, and Carlos worked together to convince the girls of their idea for a double wedding. Kim and Susan then spent months planning their big day together choosing different dresses but matching bridesmaid gowns, bouquets and music.
After walking up two aisles in a V-shape, the brides met their husbands for their ceremonies, which were followed by a huge party for 180 people, including the families of brides and grooms. For those who work outside of a traditional office or just want to take time out, there's a new alternative in London: a pay-per-minute cafe.
You can linger for as long as you like in the Ziferblat coffee shop. You'll be given a clock when you come in to keep time, When you leave, you return the item and pay the bill.
The cost of hanging out, eating, working and meeting new people in the place is 3p per minute—or ￡1.80 an hour .The shop's owner, Ivan Meetin, says, " Everything is free, except the time you speng there."
Customers help themselves to coffee and cookies. They can also bring their own food to eat on the premises while accessing the Internet through Wi-Fi.
Meetin's customers clearly are not the types who rush to work for the ambience. The new coffee shop's atmosphere is relaxed and a bit bohemian(不拘于传统的), Informality is at the heart of Meetin's concept. He's always loved the ides of building his own house. "With my mates, we were building tree houses where rules of society didn't exist, "he says.
