状语从句
1. 在主从复合句中修饰主句中的动词，形容词，副词等的从句叫状语从句。可分为，时间状语从句，地点状语从句，原因，目的，结果，条件，让步，比较和方式状语从句。
2. 时间状语从句
起时间状语作用的句子；
可放在句首，句中和句尾
常用引导词：when，while, as, after, before, since, till, until, the moment, hardly … when , no sooner … than
l when, while, as 的用法
1) when 用法最广，常可代替while和as, 在while 引导的从句中，动词只能是延续性的
When the fire broke out, all the students were sleeping soundly.
The telephone rang while I was taking a bath.
2) 当两个表示时间延续的动作同时发生而又有对比意味的时候，用while，在这样的复合句中，主句从句的时态通常是相同的。
Father was preparing a report while I was playing PC games.
3) 常用as 的情况：一边…一边；表示随着短暂动作的发生，另一行为伴随发生
As he talked on, he got more and more excited.
They talked as they walked along the river.
My cap was blown away as I sat down.
l until和till 的用法
表示“一直到…”时，主句和从句都用肯定式；
I will wait until/ till the concert is over.
表示“直到…才…”是，主句用否定，从句用肯定式。
They can’t go until Sunday.
l since的用法
since引导的从句中，如果是持续性动词，往往理解为某一状态的终止。
He has written to me frequently since he was ill. 自从他病好以来，他常写信给我。
It’s been a year ever since I worked here.
l 主将从现。时间状语从句一般不用将来时。因此如果主句是将来时，时间状语从句一般要用现在时。

l 一…就… 的几种常用的表示方法
1） as soon as
As soon as he heard the news, he jumped with joy.
2） Immediately
I’ll give you an answer immediately I’ve finished reading your file.
3） Directly
Directly you feel any pains, you must go to the doctor.
4） Instantly
Please give me a phone call instantly you arrive.
5） no sooner than
No sooner had I begun to talk than he rang offl
I had no sooner begun to talk than then he rang off.
6） hardly…when
Hardly had I told him my name when he stopped listening.
I had hardly told him my name when he stopped listening.
3. 地点状语从句
引导词 where, wherever, anywhere, everywhere,nowhere
一般情况下，只要在where前面加上 to/in/from the place，就可以变为定语从句
We live where the road crosses the river.
We live in a place where the road crosses the river.
4. 原因状语从句
引导词：单词—because，as, since 短语—now that, for the reason that, in that, seeing that
l Because, as, since, for
1） because 的语气最强，用以回答why 引起的提问，可表示已知或未知的世事。可与only ,merely, just ,not 连用，所引导的从句常用于主句之后，在表示强调的时候可置于主句之前（可用于强调结构）
He was punished only because he broke the law.
It was because that I went to town yesterday.
2） as 的语气最弱,不可用于强调，常至于主句之前。
As he was in a hurry, he left this bag home.
3） since的语气也比较弱,常表示对方已知的事实，往往相当于汉语的既然。不用于强调。常置于主句之前。
Since she can’t answer this question, it is better to ask someone else.
4） for连接并列句
We should be more careful, for it is already dark.
l now that
用于口语，表示较弱的原因，主从句因果关系不明显。既然，that可省略。
Now（that）you are grown up, you should not rely on your parents.
l for the reason that
后跟一个同位语从句。
l that
be happy that, be glad that, be surprised that 有时也被认为是原因状语从句
l in that
This experience is worth trusting in that it is based on scientific facts.
l when（既然）
I can’t tell you anything when you won’t listen.

5. 目的状语从句
l in order that /so that
I hurried through my work in order that I could be in time for wonderful TV programs.
l for fear that
I’m working hard for fear that I should fail.
l in case
I stayed all day at home in case you called.
6. 结果状语从句
l so that
so + 副词、形容词+that
The text was so boring that I fell asleep.
so+ many/few/much/little+that
He has got so little money that his family had to live on welfare.
so +动词+that
It so happened that he didn’t receive my invitation.
l such that
such + a + 形容词+可数名词单数、复数+that
It was such a terrible day that none of us would find an excuse for going out to play.
They are such good children that we all love them.
such+形容词+不可数名词+that
This was such fine music that it was worth listening to twice.
l That本身也可以引导结果状语从句

7. 条件状语从句
引导词：if, unless, as/so long as, once, in case, on condition that, supposing (that), providing (that), provided (that), given (that) 写作的时候，学会在文章里添加几个状语从句。
Providing/Supposing/Given/Provided that you promise not to tell anyone else, I’ll explain the secret.
In case it rains, do not expect me. 如果下雨，就不要等我了。
l 真实条件句与非真实条件句
Unless you go at once, you will be late.
If we had enough time yesterday, we could have done the work.
其实属于一种虚拟语气。第一种是真实条件句，表示可以实现，第二句是非真实条件句，实现的可能性不大。
8. 让步状语从句
l Though和 although 基本相同，但是though可以当副词，although不可以
Young though she is, she has travelled to many countries to put on shows.
I’ve bit of headache. It’s nothing much, though.
l Even though 和even if
Even though the learning is slow and painful, the result is wonderful.
Even if/ though you say so, I do not believe.
l As
Pop star as she is, she still needs to improve.
Fail as I did, I would never give up.
l whether (…) or not 和whether … or …
l wh-ever类的用法
引导名词性从句，只能用wh-ever，不能用no matter wh-
I’ ll wait for you however late it is. = I’ll wait for you no matter how late it is.
9. 比较状语从句
As…as not as/ so … as , than , the +比较级， the+ 比较级
His handwriting is not as good as yours (is).
The sooner you are back, the better it will be.
10. 方式状语从句
l As 正如，像
Will you please do the experiment as I am doing.
l as if 和as though
(1) 如果表述内容可能性很大，则用陈述语气 look/seem/taste /smell 等词连用
It looks as if it is going to rain.
(2) 表述的不是事实，则用虚拟语气
The young man with long hair looks as if he were a girl.
