10、xecutive in MAX.This button is disabled if Nl Switch Executive is not installed.6 NI-SWITCH Soft Front PanelThe SchematicTabThe Schematic tab contains a graphical representation,or schematic,of the topology of the switch device.Simply click the connections on the Schematic tab to make connections on

11、 the switch device.The NI-SWITCH SFP translates these clicks into the appropriate channel connections and makes driver calls to execute the connections.Additionally,use the Schematic tab to verify the connection state of the switch device.Note When a scan list is downloaded and the active switch dev

12、ice is being scanned,the Schematic tab is not operational and does not reflect the state of the switch hardware.Depending on the topology you select in the Topology ring on the NI-SWITCH SFP toolbar,one of six topologies is displayed in the Schematic tab:Matrix Multiplexer Single-Pole Double-Throw S

13、ingle-Pole Single-Throw Double-Pole Double-Throw Double-Pole Single-ThrowThe Matrix TopologyA matrix is a flexible topology that can connect multiple inputs to multiple outputs organized as columns and rows.You can connect any column to any number of rows and any row to any number of columns.Refer t

14、o the Nl Switches Help for more information about matrix topologies.National InstrumentsNI-SWITCH Soft Front PanelThe Matrix SchematicOn a matrix schematic,row-column cross-points represent potential connections on the switch device.For visibility,the NI-SWITCH SFP displays each connection and its a

15、ssociated connection route on the matrix schematic in a different color.For a channel with multiple connections,the NI-SWITCH SFP displays all of the connections and their associated connection routes in the same color.Refer to row 0(rO)of the following schematic for an example of a matrix channel w

16、ith multiple connections.Note You can resize the SFP window to see more channels.Make a Matrix ConnectionClick a row-column cross-point to make a connection on the matrix.To break a connection,simply click the connection again.The NI-SWITCH SFP makes the appropriate connect/disconnect calls to the d

17、river.8 NI-SWITCH Soft Front PanelThe Matrix Schematic for Nl SwitchBlock DevicesYou can also use the NI-SWITCH SFP to connect channels on different cards in an Nl SwitchBlock multicard device or between multiple Nl SwitchBlock devices.Refer to the following instructions for making connections to Nl

18、 SwitchBlock devices in the NI-SWITCH SFP.Connecting Channels Within an Nl SwitchBlock Multicard DeviceYou can connect channels between cards in a multi card device by connecting the same analog bus channel to the corresponding row on each card.Note You can select which card to view in the schematic

19、 from the Card drop-down list.The following schematic shows a connection between a row and column on the same card(cardlrl to c33 on card 1),and connections between channels on multiple cards in the same device through an analog bus line(row 0 connected to abO on both cards).National InstrumentsNI-S

20、WITCH Soft Front PanelThe following schematic shows the connections required on card 2 of the previously mentioned multi card device to connect c82 on card 2 to c34 on card 1.The relay between row 0 and abO is closed on both cards.Connecting Channels Between Multiple Nl SwitchBlock DevicesYou can us

21、e the NI-SWITCH SFP to enable sharing of an analog bus line and connect signals between multiple Nl SwitchBlock devices in the same carrier or in adjacent carriers connected by the Nl 2806 expansion bridge.Complete the following procedure to connect signals between multiple Nl SwitchBlock devices in

22、 the NI-SWITCH SFP.1.Determine which devices you would like to share an analog bus line.2.In the Schematic tab,select one of the devices from the Device list.3.Launch the Options dialog box(FileOptions).4.Click the Analog Bus tab in the Options dialog box.10 NI-SWITCH Soft Front Panel5.Select the ch

23、eckbox for the analog bus line that the device will share,then click OK.6.In the Schematic tab,close the ab relay for the channel that corresponds to the shared analog bus line.7.In the Schematic tab,make any additional connections to connect the desired end terminal on the device to the channel tha

40、The Relays TabThe Relays tab displays the name,position,and count of each relay on the switch device.Use the relay count information to determine if the relays on the switch device are approachingtheir life-time expectancy and if scheduled maintenance is needed.If your switch device does not support

41、 relay counts,the Relays tab displays only the names and the positions of the relays.Note When using the Nl USB-1359 to control a switch,the NI-SWITCH SFP optimizes updates to the relay states by updating only the relays that are visible.Relay states that have not beenupdated are displayed in blue.U
