Sylvia Earle is called a "Hero for the Planet" by Time magazine, who has led more than a hundred expeditions(探险), spent more than 7,000 hours underwater and set a record for solo diving in 1,000-metre depths.

By the end of the 20th century, up to 90 percent of the sharks, whales, and many other large creatures that lived in the Gulf for millions of years had disappeared due to overfishing and pollution."

The high school prom(舞会) has been an institution for high school aged kids from all classes of American society for over 100 years, but it is not the first fancy type of dance in our history. In the late 19th century, mothers in the Eastern states began holding "Debutante Balls" to introduce their marriageable young ladies into society. The easy and plain nature of proms was left behind during the boom years of post WWII America, when the prom became a means of furthering one's social status.
More money in families' pockets means more expensive dances. Young ladies purchased special dresses specifically for the event, and young men bought tuxedos (晚礼服) borrowed or rented fancy cars for the event. The tradition of the "prom dress" was born during the 1950s and continues till today. It is still widely regarded to be the most important part of a girl's prom preparations. Besides, young ladies often head off to the beauty shop to get a special updo or get nails done.
Common prom activities include dining, dancing, the crowning(加冕) of a prom King and Queen, and socializing. Throughout winter, many Brits with iPhones have taken to social media to complain about their phone batteries running out suddenly.

But it turns out that there is a technical reason behind the problem. The lithium-ion(锂离子) battery that keeps your device charged up is affected by extreme temperatures. If your phone's level of warmth drops to below 0℃ or goes up to above 35℃, its function is likely to fail.
Some may also notice that their battery life is shortened if they use their phones in the cold. Electrolyte(电解质) liquid is used to keep your device charged, but when it gets cold this material crystallizes(结晶). This prevents temporarily electricity from flowing, which can stop the phone from working altogether.
Thankfully there's typically nothing to worry about when this happens. Once your phone reaches a warmer temperature again, it should resume its normal function.
An Apple spokesperson told Business Insider: "We also want our customers to know that an iPhone is actually designed to shut down automatically under certain conditions, such as extremely cold temperatures. To an iPhone user, some of those shutdowns might seem unexpected, but they are designed to protect the device's electronics from low voltage(电压).”
