I was on vacation with my husband, my brother, his wife and daughter. We were not familiar with the area and jumped onto a bus, thinking it would be a nice way to see the downtown’s old town area.Well, until visiting with the bus driver, we found out we were on the neighborhood route which picks up school children and delivers to various neighborhood places, with a route of well over about 2 hours. That was a surprise and a concern because we had parked our vehicle in a timed parking area and it was going to end.
We shared this with the bus driver only to let her know we were not from the area and apologized for getting on her bus in error. Then she surprised us further saying, “I get off shift after a few more blocks, and if you don't mind a tight squeeze in my company car, I'd be happy to take you back to your vehicle before the time is over.” The bus driver received permission from her manager, so we gratefully said yes to her offer.
She went out of her way to take us back to our vehicle after her shift was over and it wasn't on her route to home either. We were touched and grateful for her kindness and thoughtfulness. In return because she had shared some of her concerns about the school-age children she sometimes had on the bus route, I shared with her a little tip on how to quiet the children with an energetic technique that would make the ride safer for them as well as for her. She was so grateful. It was a wonderful exchange of kindness!

Do you like shopping? Or does the thought of wandering round the shops fill you with terror? For some of us, shopping is an enjoyable way of spending our spare time and our money. For me, it’s something I would rather avoid. Thank goodness for the Internet! It’s more convenient to buy CDs, electrical items, even food, from the comfort of your sofa. But that’s not the only reason: price is an important factor. We can buy goods and services cheaper online. But sometimes the problem is not knowing what to buy. This has led to a type of shopping called “showrooming”
Showrooming is something I’ve done. I will go to a shop to see, touch and try out products but then go home and buy them online at a knock-down price. I’m not alone in doing this. Research by a company called Foolproof, found 38% of people showroomed while Christmas shopping in 2020.
Amy Cashman, head of Technology at TNS UK, says the reasons for this new shopping habit are that “People are lacking time, lacking money and they want security about the products they are buying”. She explained that consumers are not only shopping online at home but they are using the Internet in store or on their smartphones to shop around.
But does this mean technology will kill shops? Certainly shops will change.They will have to offer more competitive prices or encourage people to buy more by giving in--store discount or free gifts.
We mustn’t forget that buying in s shop means you can get expert advice from the sales assistant and you can get good aftercare. It’s good to speak to a real human rather than look at a faceless computer screen but at least by showrooming, you get the best of both worlds!

One after another telecommunications giants have announced their latest fifth generation (5G) products. They have also claimed that 5G technology would be used on a massive scale by 2020. Yet, when reporting about 5G, many domestic media have described it as a"much faster" technology than 4G without mentioning any of its other advantages. As a result. the common public view about 5G is that they could "download a HD movie within one second". Beyond that, most people know nothing about 5G.
Actually, 5G technology has many more advantages than 4G apart from speed. According to the criteria of 3GPP, an international standardization organization, 5G technology can be used for at least three purposes --connecting everything, reliability of connections, and eliminating delays.
“Connecting everything” is an appropriate slogan for 5G technology, without which the Internet of Things would be impossible. 5G would enable one server to connect to multiple terminals (终端), and thus establish high-speed coordination(协调、合作) among them, and help the chips inside the terminals timely react to meet people’s needs. Take autonomous vehicles for example, they are mature technology products. Self-driving cars combine a variety of sensors, such as radar, computer vision, and GPS to identify navigation paths and obstacles. 5G technology will link all the elements of a transportation system, such as traffic lights, cameras and, of course, cars to establish perfect coordination so they can avoid obstacles and move on navigation paths, which will help strengthen self-driving technology.
Reliability of connections is another essential characteristic of 5G technology, whose use can be extended to other fields where high safety standards are required. For instance, in certain surgeries, surgeons insert nano-robots inside a patient’s body and have to maintain constant control over the robots to ensure they perform their functions and do not cause any harm to the patient.
