事业正处在登峰造极阶段的他，却在采访中认真地透露说，自己有个心愿，主持人这个行业永远需要有人付出和牺牲点什么，所以，“一旦时机合适，自己会选择退居幕后，去施展对节目的想法。”面对记者的吃惊，他甚至坦言：“这个过程不会太长，我不会光顾自己过嘴瘾。”历经7年被锻造出的名嘴，他想缩短进程，用三年时间推出优质新人。
电话那一头，李咏的声音热情不乏沉静，幽默中透出理性，全然不是舞台上“人来疯”的模样。话筒那头传来一阵哭声，他笑着告诉说：“我女儿闹了，肯定是妈妈跑开了，没事的。”过了一会儿，他突然不说话了。记者听到了孩子的“呀呀”声，再仔细一听，原来是他宝贝女儿：“李咏李咏我爱你，就像老鼠爱大米。”他也在聆听，他舍不得放过点点滴滴做父亲的快乐和骄傲。
