Josiah Henson is but one name on a list of courageous men and women who together forged the Underground Railroad, a secret web of escape routes and safe houses that they used to liberate slaves from the American South. The one used depended on where the search parties , and slaves catchers were inspired. Some trips required the use of many different routes . If i
25、t appeared that they might be in danger, a guide would change paths. Some guides and fugitives even hid out in bushes and swamps for many days until it was safe to continue on. Quickness was not the main coincidence, instead safety was most important and as a result they often zigzagged in order to
