Unit 8 The Seasons and the Weather
Topic 1 What’s the weather like in summer?

Ⅰ. Material analysis
本话题通过对话询问和描述一年四季的气候引入学习，自然过渡到气温的表达，对比中西方国家天气的差异，同时谈论大量适合各种天气的日常活动。本节课是第八单元话题一的第一课时，主要活动是1a、2a和3a。学习询问和描述不同季节天气的表达以及描述不同季节适合的活动的表达方式；还将学习询问最喜欢的季节并阐述其原因的表达方式；另外，语音板块将学习字母s, x 及字母组合ur, wh的读音规则并复习字母z,w和字母组合ur,ir,er在单词中的发音。

能够快速辨认和正确朗读与天气及其活动相关的词汇：
weather, spring, warm, season, summer, hot, climb等；
能够询问和描述不同季节的天气以及各季节适合的活动的表达方式，如：

能够谈论最喜欢的季节并阐述其原因，如：

3.Sing the song together.

1. Greet students and let students answer a question: How many days are there in a year?

2. Show the pictures of the four seasons on the screen and ask some questions; Lead students to answer the questions. (老师可以让学生根据图片猜测season的意思：季节）

1. Show the picture of “spring” on the screen and ask the question: What’s the weather like in spring? (老师解释此问题)
2.Point out the question: What can we do in spring?Let students talk about the question and try to answer it.

3.Show the next picture of “summer” on the screen and ask the question: How is the weather in summer?(老师解释此问题)Then let students answer the question.
4. Show the other pictures of “fall” and “winter”. Let students talk about the pictures in pairs and choose some pairs to show their new conversations.

5.Play the tape and let students read after the tape carefully. Then point out the key sentences on the screen and let students try to remember the key sentences:
—What’s the weather like in spring?/How is the weather in spring?
—It’s warm. It’s a good time to.../ It’s a good season for..../We can...
6.Play the tape again and help check the answers.

3. Show the pictures in 2b and give students some time to make up new conversations in pairs and then show their dialogs.

3.Let students read each group of words and circle the letters with the same sound by themselves. Play the tape and let students check and repeat.

1.Show the table on the screen and let students fill in the table including “Name, Favorite season, Reason” in groups. Then choose some students from each group to report the result of the table.

Make up a short passage about the seasons and the activities;
Preview the words and expressions in Section B.
Teaching reflection：
本节课要掌握的语言点较多，学生在课堂上不可能完全掌握，因此，学生在课后做好复习，查漏补缺是非常必要的。同时要求学生养成良好的学习、复习习惯，有利于学生们更好地学习。
