Construction Scheme for Steel Rain-proof Shelter
1. General

The rainy season lasts very long time every year in Indonesia, maxim 6 months. In order to ensure project quality and duration, two rainproof shelters by lightweight steel structure are to be added on two non-standard fabricating yards, with dimension of 24*160m and 24*120m respectively.

3. Construction Preparation and Equipment Inspection

a) Construction Preparation
It is to review the construction drawings, disclose technical issues, and to be familiar with technical documents such as drawings.
Construction workers shall be informed of material delivery condition and checking over it
Construction machines and tools and materials shall be prepared, including available construction electricity.

To inspect in structural steel rainproof shelter dispatched from manufacturer whether welding are qualified or not, dimension are conforming to drawing requirement or not, and whether main parts have apparent damage or deformation or not.

4. Foundation Inspection& Acceptance
a) Prior to rainproof shelter erection, foundation shall be qualified in inspection and acceptance; otherwise rainproof shelter cannot be started.
b) Construction drawing and inspection procedure requirement shall be conformed in outline dimension, and mutual alignment among center line, elevation and anchor bolt hole.
c) Litter and water inside the earthquake-proof groove shall be cleaned up while soil around foundation shall be compacted.

5. Sizing Block/Iron Gasket Installation
In accordance with drawing requirement, between foundation pedestal and rain-proof shelter landing leg shall be shimmed with 30cm bearing plate.

6. Crane Selection
As the steel rainproof shelter is of large span and long length, and it is high latitude hoisting operation, the heavy duty 100T truck crane with high performance shall be selected as hoisting tool.

7. Steel Roof Girder Assembling
To reduce high altitude operation procedure, assure operator of safety and improve construction quality, all steel roof girder and upright column will be assembled on the ground with high strength bolt to connect it together, then the span to be inspected, and then the safety string to be tied on the upper part of steel column. The last step is integral hoisting. The figure illustrates as below.

As there are deviations in spans between foundation anchor bolts, the bolt holes of upright columns of rainproof shelter shall be kept in proper distance during assembling. Reassembling is necessary in case of relatively larger deviation. Hawser cable, flax rope, ladder and PPE such as safety belt shall be available before hoisting of integral structure. Also, rigger and crane driver shall follow the instruction of hoisting controller during hoisting process so as to ensure personnel and equipment safety. Hawser cable shall be immediately drawn to fasten the frame formed by girder and landing leg after hoisting is finished, and the same procedure is repeated on hoisting of next span.

8. The Supports between Purlins and Columns and the Installation of Drawbar.
After steel roof beams and upright column are finished in erection, the purlins between steel roof beams and the inclined struts and drawbars between columns could be installed accordingly.
a) Technical safety disclosure shall be once again carried out to high climbers before this process.
b) When hoisting purlins and the supporting parts between columns, specialized persons shall be assigned to hold the hawser cable, preventing operators and goods encountering damages during hoisting.
c) It is inappropriate to do installation if the wind is too strong or fast.
d) During hoisting operation, the operators shall hang his safety belt on safety life wire tightened on roof beams.

9. Color Steel Tile Fabrication and Installation
a) Color steel tile is to be produced on site with color coated roll being pressed by color plate forming machine according to drawing requirement.
b) Safety techniques alone shall be disclosed once again to high climbers before color steel tile and purlin installation.
c) Two sides of steel rain-proof shelter shall be vertical and hollow, and vertical ladder shall be used for workers climbing up and down.
d) Steel roof girder is sloping, before purlin and color steel tile installation the safety life wire shall be drawn to hang the falling protector and the safety rope.
e) Purlin and color steel tile builder shall step on rope ladder for movement and hang falling protector in the middle of safety life wire when working on sloping surface, and shall hang the safety belt on falling protector to ensure height operation safety.

10. Rope Ladder Usage
a) To be fixed; (to increase the contacting area of fixture as much as possible);
b) To wear shoes and move slowly while climbing up and down;
c) To stabilize the rope ladder, and hold it still if it is swaying;
d) Rope ladder shall not to be too long; certain protection measure shall be taken for rope ladder exceeding 3m;
e) To check and maintain the rope ladder regularly;
f) To purchase the qualified rope ladder with certified brand.
g) Not to use it during working outdoors in severe weather condition.

11. Safety Attentions
a) Before hoisting operation, Safety technical disclosure shall be held to professional rigger, driver, and personnel involved in hoisting operation.
b) Antiskid soft sole shall be worn by high climbers in wet rainy days.
c) The passageway from top down for emergency shall be available during sudden heavy rain.
d) When fastening high strength bolt at high altitude, workers shall bring small bucket to contain the sheared high strength bolt for prevention of falling objects wounding.
e) Workers shall inspect whether safety belt, falling protector and antiskid shoes are complete and proper or not before working at height.
f) Roof girders shall have safety life wires dividing into one longitudinal and one horizontal strip.
g) When pulled from ground to high altitudes, color steel tile shall be tied with hawser cable in preventing strong wind from swaying color steel tile.
h) When electrical tools are used at high latitude, it is necessary to inspect whether power cords are bare or not, and whether electrical tool are leaked of electricity or not, to avoid personnel electric shock and high falling due to electric shock and so on.
