I am going to tell you the happy marriage between my father and my mother. You know, the thing I am quite proud of is that I come from a close-knit family, I mean, my father, my mother create a culture of good feelings in our home and in their marriage and thats what really makes a home "home'.
I started realizing my father is so considerate, gentle and well-balanced is because, I never saw him lose his temper, not even complain about any tiny chores in the family. In my memory, every time when my father was talking to my mother, he always started a sentence with "I love it when' for example, in stead of "Why havent we gone for a date recently?' In a very gentle manner, he was always like "I love it when we go out together. Remember when we went to the restaurant that night? I had so much fun.Lets do that again!'
They have got married for roughly 30 years and the most interestingly unusual thing is, my father and mother would always switch roles at home. I mean, domestic tasks can never be gendered in my family, my mother has a portfolio career, she is super busy and does more paid work. So sometimes she just does the minimum amountof domestic chores that she needs to do to get by, whilst my father covers a lot such as, doing the laundry, organizing my school and social lives, putting the rubbish bins outthe list goes on. But they are both happy with the give and take respectively.
I think they have a happy marriage becausethey can always find happiness in little things and what they should aim for, rather than what we dont have. Thats very simple but important. All those small moments build a habit of seeing each other through a rose-tinted spectacle, of course, they may also be negativemoments but more importantly, they always try to remember the good ones and appreciate them. So they are not always eye to eye, but always heart to heart.

1. Are there many people living near you?
If yes:
Yeah there are, because I live in quite a residential area, and so most of the buildings around my home are apartment blocks.

No, I wouldnt say there are, because I mean, a lot of the flats where I live are empty, which is probably due to the fact that most of the people who bought them didnt actually plan on moving in, but instead bought them simply as an investment. So yeah, its a pretty quiet neighbourhood.

2. Do you know all your neighbours?

Well, I wouldnt say I know all them, but I know a fair few, and thats mainly because I spend quite a lot of time in gardens of my apartment complex, which is how I got to know them.

No not really, because my neighbours tend to keep (pretty much) to themselves. You know, I mean, if I happen to see them, we might say hi to each other, but thats about it, and then theyll just continue with doing whatever it is theyre doing.

3. When do you see your neighbours?
I guess the time when I mostly see them is when Im in the lift of my apartment block. You know, thats pretty much the only time I come into contact with them, because I dont really know them all that well, so Ive neverbeen round to any of their homes or anything like that.

4. How often do you see your neighbours?
Well I guess it depends, because I mean, during term time, I dont see them at all, cos Im away at university,. but during the holidays, when Im back home, I guess I probably see them about three or four times a week, because Im quite good friends with a few of them.

5. Do you think its important to know your neighbours?
If yes:
Yeah, I suppose it is, because I think it helps create a good community spirit if we know our neighbours. In other words, it kind of gives the neighbourhood a nice, friendly feel, instead of a cold, unwelcoming one, if you know what I mean!

No I wouldnt really say it is, because for me I think friends and family are enough. And I mean, in my case I dont spend nearly enough time with my family as it is, so I cant really see the need to get to know my neighbours as well. And this probably goes for a lot of people, not just me.

6. What do you think of your neighbours?
Theyre all really nice people. You know, theyre always very pleasant to me whenever I see them. And I cant think of a single instance when Ive had problems with any of them. So yeah, I feel pretty lucky to have such good neighbors!

7. What sorts of problems can people have with their neighbors?
Well I guess one of the main ones would be noise. You know, like putting on music too loud or having the TV on full volume, that kind of thing. So thats probably the biggest complaint that people have with their neighbors. And as well as this, I suppose another problematic issue could be pets, because a lot of neighbors who have them dont put their dogs on a lead when theyre walking them, which I think is quite in considerate, seeing as a lot of people are quite scared of dogs!
