OK, I prefer to eat in a restaurant called The Sushi Samba, because I will have a lot of choices and I can follow the latest menu in the restaurant and cook it for myself later. Also, it is a good way to hang out with my friends, because I don't have to wash the dishes for an hour after having dinner at home, which is definitely a plus.
2.Which dishes do you prefer, meat or vegetables? Why?
I think I definitely love vegetables more than meat, as I am always such a believer when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, so a healthy diet is absolutely my thing, which means more vegetables and less meat. Just balanced diet, you know. I really think we should follow those tips, as they are from doctors and scientists.

Well, it really depends. For instance, if I am all by myself, then I will just order Dim Sum or milk tea, even just a piece of cheese cake. I mean the choice is always the easiest when you are alone. However, if I have a bunch of friends with me, we probably will have the hotpot or Beijing roast duck.

Part 2 (10 minutes)
Now let’s move on to something more specific. The topic for our discussion today is“Food Safety”. Each of you will see a card with instructions for your presentation. You’ll have one minute to prepare, and each of you will have one and a half minutes to give your presentation. Now look at your card.
CardA:
The importance of Food Safety
CardB:
Problems in Food Safety
Now CandidateA, please begin.
[90 seconds]:
Food safety is such a hot topic right now.
Firstly, it influences people’s health. Many people think that cooking could be a waste of time, which is true.It can be a long process for one dish. Sometimes, it is more than an hour. As a result, many people go to restaurants for lunch or supper. Their health could be in danger if the food they are served is insanitary or unsafe.
Also, if people are misled by the idea that the food in the restaurants is not safe, this harms the business of every Café, Canteen and restaurant as a whole. Many honest business owners will be collateral damage by this wrongly projected image.
That’s why we have to ensure the food safety for the sake of both customers and business owners.
Candidate B, now it’s your turn.
[90 seconds]:
Well the problems in food safety are obvious.
To begin with, the regulation in this whole industry is not effective. Finding out there are some bugs or body hair in the soup that served in some restaurant is no surprise when I am reading newspaper, but the restaurant that made it to the news still opens. Nobody cares about it. Not even the government.
Besides, the customers never fully realize that they have the right to report and sue the owner who is responsible for the food safety. If the customers don’t try to protect themselves, no one will. Just think, even the exposure of the media is not working.
Those two things are my biggest concerns now.
Right. Now that we’ve talked briefly about food safety, I’d like you to develop this topic further and have a discussion for about four and a half minutes. During the discussion you may argue and ask each other questions. Our discussion is about
how to ensure food safety.
Remember, this is a pair activity and you need to interact with each other. So don’t keep talking without giving the other a chance. Now let’s begin.
[3 minutes]
A: Well, I think the government can definitely help to ensure food safety. You know, the government should devote more money and more attention into the problems that are at hand. For instance, they can invest in some new supervision systems or hire more people to guarantee the policy about food safety is carefully carried out. What do you think?
B: I agree. Also, I think the government can put out some new advertisements to arouse the awareness of people about what they should do when they encounter with problems related with food safety, for instance, what number they should call or who they should turn to for help. You know, the little things that help are what matter the most. What else can we do?
A: I also think we can learn from other countries, such as America or Japan. I have never been to those places before, but I was told they have a higher standard when it comes to food safety,so maybe we should raise the bar a little bit as well. How do you feel about it?
B: Yeah, yeah, definitely. I read it somewhere as well. What’s more, I guess it’s also the time to raise the moral standard of the public too. People just need to realize that they should do what’s right, rather than what’s easy. Right?
A: So true, I can’t agree more.
All right, that’s the end of the discussion.
Part3 (1 minute)
Now I’dlike to ask you just one last question on the topic of “Food Safety”.
1. Why are people more concerned about food safety these days?
Maybe it’s because food safety concerns everyone. We all have to eat every day, but there have been too many horrible incidents over this topic. On one hand, healthy food benefits my health and makes me full of energy. On the other hand, insanitary food attacks my body every time when I eat it. Of course, people worry over this matter. It would be stupid not to.
2. Why do some young people like junk food?
I don’t think they like the junk food. They eat it, because they don’t have to wash the plates and pans after cooking. And they don't like the smell in the kitchen, you know; it is very greasy and hard to get rid of, and will stick with them for the whole day, so they were attracted to the convenience and trouble-free idea that is offered by the highly standard international chain restaurant services, a.k.a, junk food restaurant services.
3. What do you think of some people going on a diet?
I will root for them as long as they don’t hurt themselves. I always think health is the most important thing. Obesity is the opposite of that, going on a diet in order to be a healthier version of oneself is definitely very cool. Just don’t overdo it, don’t be too hard on yourself and everything will be fine.
4. Why do some people choose to eat vegetarian food only?
I can only assume they want to maintain a healthier body or maybe it’s because of their religion. I have never met anyone like this before in my daily life. And I never have the heart for that myself, but I think this is a very personal choice, so I definitely respect vegetarian and what they believe in.

对此你旳观点是什么呢?will the family relationship as close as before?
A: I will hold the view that our recent family relationship isn’t as close as before. As we all know, great changes have taken place in family life, and once extended family tends to become smaller and smaller. Meanwhile, social competition is becoming increasingly fierce, therefore leaving many children working far away from their parents and becoming emotionally extranged from their parents.
B: I have something different to say. The great changes in our modern world do change the ways we communicate with our family members. But I don’t think these changes have changed our deeper love to our parents. Instead, we can chat with each other through the We-chat and exchange our joys and worries on the Internet, which actually bring much closer ties between children working outside and parents staying at home.
A: Yes, to some extent, what you said is reasonable. But compared with the past, nowadays young adults are urged to concentrate their efforts upon work to achieve success or at least a good standard of life. As a result, they can not afford to spend their leisure hours with their families and actually the importance of bonds of kinships is gradually fading from their mind.
B: I may not agree with you. What I want to say is that an increasing number of families have realized the fact and become to take actions to maintain their bonds of kinships. For example, a large body of working people choose to have a family reunion on holidays or other important occasions. For members of families who live away from one another, regular contact on the phone will bring them the care they need.

The Joy of Giving: The Importance of Helping Each Other in Daily Life
As the old saying goes, “Roses given, Fragrance in hand.”We are living in a complicated society where we may encounter various troubles. Helping each other is not only good for ourselves but also conducive to the harmony of the whole soceity. No one can deny the importance of it.
For those who are in trouble, obtaining helps from others can help them get out of trouble more smoothly and thus sense the warmth of society. Besides, those who offer a helping hand are more likely to improve their sense of gratification and achievement by fulfilling their personal value.
At no time should we underestimate the power of a helping hand. Accordingly, under no circumstances should we decline to help others when they are in need. Besides, we should be grateful for those who provide us with help when we are in trouble. Only when we realize the importance of helping each other can we be devoted to building a harmonious society.
With the fast development of high technology, people are using robots increasingly. Not only do many companies have robots, but more and more people can afford to buy robots, too. For example, in restaurants, robots can replace waiters to serve the guests. For common people who use robots in their households, robots can help clean the house, and even look after the kids. They can do quite a lot of things to entertain people, such as telling a story. But there are also some disadvantages of robots. For instance, they don’t have feelings. Therefore, even though robots can bring much convenience for people, they can never replace people.
