Unit 4 I used to be afraid of the dark 教材来源:初中九年级《英语》教科书/人民教育出版社2014年版 内容来源:九年级《英语(全一册)》第四单元 主 题:I used to be afraid of the dark. 课 时:共5课时 授课对象:九年级学生 设 计 者:苏 婧 目标确定的依据 1.课程标准相关要求 课程标准五级目标要求听的方面九年级学生能听懂能根据语调和重音理解说话者的意图;能针对所听语段的内容记录简单的信息。口语方面能在口头表达中进行适当的自我修正;能有效地询问信息和请求帮助;能根据话题进行情景对话;读的方面,能根据上下文和构词法推断、理解生词的含义;能理解段落中各句子之间的逻辑关系;能找出文章中的主题,逻辑故事的情节,预测故事情节的发展和可能的结局。写的方面,能根据写作要求,收集、准备素材;能独立起草短文、短信等,并在教师的指导下联系修改;能使用常见的连接词表示顺序和逻辑关系; 2.教材分析 本单元以“我们怎样改变”为核心话题,以四年后老朋友见面的情境中,围绕本单元语言交际功能项目“谈论你过去什么样”展开各种教学活动,给人们一种有趣的体验和新鲜的感受。教学从谈论人物过去的外貌、性格,进一步延伸到谈论人物过去的心理感受以及过去的爱好等,最后延伸到谈论现在的变化,将过去和现在进行对比。 3学情分析 学生在七年级就学习怎样描述一个人的外貌和性格,同时在七、八年级学习了一般过去时态的用法等。这些均为本单元的学习奠定了语言知识。本单元教学内容由浅入深,逐步引导学生用英语表述人的外貌、性格和心理特征,通过学习,让学生在交际活动中学会正确地用英语谈论事物的发展和变化,培养学生积极向上的健康心态。 学习目标 Section A: 主要介绍本单元基本的语言内容,注重学生的听说能力和短语的积累。教材通过学习描述人物外貌和性格的形容词,利用图片设置的情景导入本单元语言功能项目和语法项目,然后通过听力和口语训练来落实这些语言功能项目。 Section B: (1)通过说和读的练习,让不同的学生说出他们过去和现在的变化。 (2)通过听力练习,让学生听出人物过去和现在的变化。 (3)通过小组合作,进行阅读和说话训练。 ( 4 ) 通过小组合作,运用所提供给的目标语言进行写作练习。要求学生用used to 结构列出自己过去和现在的变化。 课时划分: 第一课时:Section A1 1a – 2d 第二课时:Section A2 3a-3 c 第三课时:Section A Grammar Focus-4c 第四课时:Section B1 1a-1e,Self Check 2 第五课时:Section B2 2a-3b,Self check1 第一课时:Section A 1 (1a – 2d) 学习目标: 1.通过观察图片和听力练习,复习巩固描述人物外表和性格的单词。 2.通过人物今昔对比,能够用used to 结构描述人物曾经的外貌和性格特点。 3.通过练习,理解used to结构并学会used to在陈述句、疑问句及其肯定和否定形式当中的运用。 学习重点: 通过人物今昔对比,能够用used to 结构描述人物曾经的外貌和性格特点。 学习难点: 通过练习,理解used to结构并学会used to在陈述句、疑问句及其肯定和否定形式当中的运用。 Step 1 Warming-up Learn “used to ” Hi, everyone. Today we’re going to study Unit 4. Its title is I used to be afraid of the dark. In the title we find a phrase “used to ”. What does it mean? How is it used in English? used to的用法 “used to加不定式”表示过去常常干某事,现在不在干了。 例如: I used to go to work by bus. Now I take a taxi. She used to be very shy. “be used to doing”表示习惯于干某事。 【例如】 I am used to getting up early and going to bed early. He is used to being praised by others. So the sentence “I used to be afraid of the dark.” means in Chinese: He used to _______ in the sun, but now he is used to _______ at night. A. read; read B. reading; read C. read; reading D. reading; reading Step 2 Presentation(目标1,2) 1a Next we are going to fill in the chart below with words to tell about people’s appearance and personality. First,let’s see some pictures about a person’s appearance. Then,let’s have a summary. In the conversation you will find that Bob is seeing some friends for the first time in four years. Listen and fill in the chart on page 10 with words telling about friends’ appearances and personalities. While listening, pay attention to the form of the sentences. Step 5 Grammar summary (目标3) 1.肯定形式:used to +v.原形 I used to be afraid of the dark. He used to run. 2.否定形式:didn’t use to + v.原形 he didn’t use to be afraid of the dark. He didn’t use to run. 3.一般疑问句形式:Did … use to …? Did you use to be afraid of the dark? Ask students to look at the example sentence. Ask students to finish 4a individually, and then have students discuss the suitable sentence in groups. Step 4 Groupwork 4b Have a student read the example in 4b,then say: Look at the information about Emily, Now let’s discuss in groups. Ask some students to talk about what they were afraid of when they were young one by one. Step 2 Leading-in 1. Have a free talk with students. T: What did you use to be afraid of? S1: I used to be afraid of the dark. T: How do you deal with it? S1: I go to bed with my bedroom light on.. T: You are great. What about you? S2: I used to be afraid of high places. T: How do you deal with it? S2: I have no idea. I’m still afraid of highplaces. Step 3 Presentation 1a. Show pictures in 1a,then have students talk about the pictures in 1a. And discuss the pictures in 1a. Have students check the things they used to like when they were a child. Read each item and count how many students raise their hands to show they have checked it. Step 4 Practice 1b T: Besides the things we’ve talked about above , What other things did you use to like when they were a child. Please discuss them with your partner. Ask students to wok in pairs to talk about what things they used to like. Move around and give help to some students if necessary. Have some students report their answers in class and write them down on the blackboard. Have one student read the statement in Self Check 3, then let them complete the statements. Ask some student to report their answers. Step 5 Listen and compete 1c. Have students look at the sentences in 1c and say: please look at the sentences in 1c and talk about the sentences. Then translate these sentences. Let’s listen to the conversation and check the sentences they hear. Listen again and check the answers. 1d. Let the students look at the sentences in 1d. Then play the tape again let the students fill in the chart. Let the students listen again and check the answers. Step 6 Pairwork 1e Let the students look at the dialogue in 1e, have some students read the dialogue to the class. Then let the students make dialogues like the model. Ask some pairs act out their dialogues. Step 7 Practice Self check1. Let the students look at the words in the box. Let them discuss the words in the box. Then explain the words to the class. Show the new words in 2d on the screen and ask students to look then up in a dictionary, Read the new words and ask students to repeat. Have students write a sentence using each words, then let them say their sentences. Step 4 While-reading. 2a. Have students skim the passage, find the problems that Li Wen might have. 2c. Let the students read the passage and underline the problems that Li Wen used to have. Ask different to read their answers, Check the answers with the class. Step 5 Language points do well in cause some problems take care of move to be absent from boarding school make a decision in person take pride in be proud of Step 6 After-reading 2b. Let the students read the passage carefully, then put the sentences into the passage. 2e. Let the students look at the words in the box. Let them discuss the words in the box. Then explain the words to the class. Let the class read the words. Let the students fill in the blanks with the words in the box according to the passage. Check the aswers. Step 7 Practice 2f. What do you think Li Wen and his parents talked about in their conversation ? Wok in groups and make a conversation. Ask some groups act out their conversation. Step 8 Pratice 3a. Read the instructions in 3a to the class and tell them to write down their changes in appearance, personality and hobbies. Have students talk about their changes with their partners. Step 9 Writing 3b. Have students read 3b and ask them talk about how to write. Ask each student to write the sentences according to the sentence patterns given in 3b and their discussion result in 3a. Have students finish their writing, have several students read their writing.
