读后续写学案Continuation writing Teaching aims After learning this lesson, students will be able to: 1)figure out the main character’s feelings in certain situations; 2)find out supporting details to show the feelings; 3)describe feelings of a person in a vivid way. 4)develop a reasonable ending to a story. Teaching procedure Step1: Revision 1. Have students review the story they read last week.. Do you still remember the story, on which you have to base your writing? 1)What is it mainly about? 2)Which ending did you put to the story, a happy ending or a sad ending? 2. Review the plot of the story and figure out Shayna’s feelings in different situations. A couple went shopping. --- happy Shayna’s wallet was gone. --- heartbroken, worried They returned to the store.---very worried, unlucky A young woman posted their story on Facebook --- hopeful, They waited and didn’t received any news.---more and more worried 3. Have students find out detailed description indicating the change of Shayna’s feelings. Plot Feelings Detailed description A couple went shopping happy finished paying, went back Shayna’s wallet was gone heartbroken, worried failed to find … “maybe left …kept…,give” They returned to the store very worried, unlucky checked, became, wouldn’t be able to pay … A young woman posted their story on Facebook hopeful hearing, Don’t worry… Decided, posted, hoped, read,returned They went home -more and more worried Waited worriedly, Didn’t received , One day, their phone rang. Shayna was very happy to hear the words… 4. Draw students’ attention to the use of grammatical structures and sentence patterns in the passage. Think about the purpose of using them in the writing of the story. (1). After they got home , Shayna found that her wallet was gone. (2). Then her husband suddenly remembered where he had left the wallet (3). Not only shayna’s and her children’s medical cards were in the wallet, but there was also $1612 rent money in it .. (4). Without that money, they wouldn’t be able to pay the rent. (5). Feeling worried, Shayna began to cry. (6). After hearing their story, the woman said: (7). Shayna went home with her husband and waited worriedly. (8). As time went by, they became more and more worried. Step 2: Reading 1. Students read a story and analyze the main idea. 2. Students read the story and fill in the chart below. Students assess and share their work. Step 5 Enjoy your writing Check it and think about ------- Does your writing 1) state proper feelings according to the given situation? 2) describe feelings in detail (words, actions, thoughts, looks, surroundings,etc.)? 3) use certain grammatical structures and sentences patterns ? 4) make the second paragraph follow the first one logically. 第二 读后续写(满分25分) 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。 One weekend in July, Jane and her husband, Tom, had driven three hours to camp overnight by a lake in the forest. Unfortunately, on the way an unpleasant subject came up and they started to quarrel. By the time they reached the lake, Jane was so angry that she said to Tom. “I'm going to find a better spot for us to camp" and walked away. With no path to follow, Jane just walked on for quite a long time. After she had climbed to a high place. she turned around, hoping to see the lake. To her surprise, she saw nothing but forest and, far beyond, a snowcapped mountain top. She suddenly realized that she was lost. “Tom! "she cried. "Help!" No reply. If only she had not left her mobile phone in that bag with Tom. Jane kept moving, but the farther she walked, the more confused she became. As night was beginning to fall, Jane was so tired that she had to stop for the night. Lying awake in the dark, Jane wanted very much to be with Tom and her family. She wanted to hold him and tell him how much she loved him. Jane rose at the break of day, hungry and thirsty. She could hear water trickling (滴落) somewhere at a distance. Quickly she followed the sound to a stream. To her great joy, she also saw some berry bushes. She drank and ate a few berries. Never in her life had she tasted anything better. Feeling stronger now. Jane began to walk along the stream and hope it would lead her to the lake. As she picked her way carefully along the stream, Jane heard a helicopter. Is that for me? Unfortunately, the trees made it impossible for people to see her from above. A few minutes later, another helicopter flew overhead.
