June 8th was officially named by the UN in 2009 as World Ocean Day. We observe this day annually to stress the important role oceans play in our everyday life. As we know, oceans are the lungs of our planet and produce most of the oxygen we breathe. They help stabilize world climate, provide enormous energy and offer various seafood to us. But sea waters are polluted and many sea animals are faced with the survival challenge. As the main beneficiaries of oceans, we should give a healthy ocean back to them.
