Teaching and learning steps
Step 1. Warming up and leading in
T: What is this?
S1: It’s a pen.
T: Whose pen is it?
S2: It’s mine.
T: OK, now let’s learn the words and phrases of Unit 8. Open your books to Page 163-164. Look at the new words in this unit.
Step 2 Learn to read the words on P163-164
1. Ask the students to read the words by themselves using the phonetics, underline the difficult words.
2. Encourage the students to read the difficult words with their partners.
3. Get two or three middle-level students to read all the words, the others listen and correct their mistakes in pronunciation. If necessary, the teacher helps them.
4. Read after the tape, imitate the pronunciation.
5. The students read aloud to memorize the words. (The teacher walks around to see whether students have any questions. )
(设计意图:本环节通过学生自读—组内互读—朗读纠错—磁带跟读,达到正确熟练朗读本单元生词。音标学单词是学生学习英语的必备能力,所以要重点强调学生自读环节。在教学中要继续让学生试读单词,巩固和提高学生自学单词的能力,培养学生良好的学习习惯。首先学生自己根据音标字读单词,并标出试读难点。接着组内读给同伴听,解决遇到的发音问题。然后教师检查学生朗读,及时纠正错音。最后让学生跟录音读。单词的学习坚持从个体—同伴—小组—整体的原则,培养学生自主学习和小组互助学习的能力,以保证所有学生都能熟练读出单词,语音纯正,发音准确。)
Step 3 Learn the new words
一.Remember the words by guessing the meaning of pictures.

Stonehenge 巨石阵 Britain 大不列颠
Stonehenge is in Britain.
(设计意图:利用图片、图画创设语境,教授新词,直观形象,先让学生猜测词义,可增加印象,使其轻松地把英语和汉语对应起来。运用图片能让学生直观地理解单词的意思,通过建立语境和语义之间的关系,促进理解、加深记忆,培养学生用英语思维的习惯,减少了学生对汉语的依赖,避免孤立地理解和记忆单词。通过授课,效果良好。)
二.Remember the words by conversion(转换) 、complex words (合成)、 derivative(派生)and comparison(对比)
(1) Derivative(派生): 在词根上加前缀或后缀构成另一个与原意略有变化或截然相反的词。
①动词+ er/ing /ion 名词

②in/un…+形容词 否定前缀,词义截然相反

Step 4 Consolidation of words
Task1.Give the students a few minutes to try to memorize the words first .
Task2. Memory Challenge (记忆力大挑战). Have a competition ( in groups )
Look at the pictures and try to say English words as quickly as you can.

Task 3. Ask the Ss to speak out the words and phrases .
Step 4 Learn how to use the new words and phrases in a story
On a midsummer morning, the Smiths went to Stonehenge by truck. Mr. Smith in a suit is a hard-working policeman. Mrs. Smiths in a pink coat is a historian. She is always busy, but today she needn’t attend any meeting. They wanted to have a picnic with their children. On their way, Mrs Smith told the children the story about Stonehenge.
Stonehenge a rock circle, is not one of Britain’s most famous historical places but one of its greatest mysteries. Every year it receives more than 750000 visitors. People believe the stones have medical purpose. They think the stones can prevent illness and keep people healthy. They can get the energy. Some people think it might be a burial place to honor ancestors. Others think it was built to celebrate a victory over an enemy.
Even though Mrs .Smith told them carefully, the children were sleepy. Suddenly, they heard a strange noise. “There must be something happening!” Mr .Smith shouted. All of them were uneasy. They looked outdoors, They found a UFO had landed, an alien was running after a rabbit and a wolf. Mrs Smith said:“Let me take it back to the laboratory. It must be valuable!”They went off the truck, at the same time the alien and the UFO disappeared!
What a strange mystery!
操作说明:(将这篇短文做到学案上,提前打印下发给学生。)
Task1. Read the story and find about the topic sentence.

Task3. Read the stories aloud and check the pronunciation to each other. Then try to tell these stories to your partners.
(设计意图:在学生记忆本单元单词的基础上,再学习由本单元的生词编成的一篇文章, 体现了词不离句的教学原则,有助于学生学习理解和使用本单元的词汇,让学生学习单词有了语境,在语境中了解词汇的意义和词汇的表意功能,这为学生学习、实践和运用英语创造了条件,有助于学生有效记忆和使用英语词汇。通过找主题句、生生互译短文、互读短文等形式对单词进行强化巩固理解。)

【亮点】
1. 本教案按照“生本教育”的理念进行备课,强化学生自主学习的理念。教学的每一步都让学生自己进行学习,教师仅作指导和解决学生疑难的引路者。
2. 教学单词避免了纯粹的教读单词,而是借助情景展示、语境导入、图片识词、拼读规则、结构规律、拆分巧记、故事背诵等方式记忆单词,既丰富了学生记忆单词的方式,也引导学生懂得并学习如何用多种方式巧记、活记单词。引导学生在句子中学习新单词,调动了学生的积极性。
3.单词的拼读注重了学生自学能力和小组合作能力的培养。首先要求学生进行自读,然后读给同伴听,再读给全班同学听,老师予以纠正。为保证发音的纯正,让学生分组朗读,再跟着磁带读,最后相互纠正发音,直到所有的学生都能正确读音。
4.故事的编写独具匠心,它几乎囊括了本单元所有的单词,利用一个小故事,学习了本单元的所有单词,使学生在语境中更好地链接并记忆单词,体现了“词不离句,句不离篇”的教学理念。同时将情感教育渗透其中,让学生在潜移默化中受到教育。
5.同时通过各种形式的单词记忆既加深了单词的识记,又学会了部分单词的用法,渗透了本单元的重点话题,达到了预习的目的。当堂检测题也是遵循了“由易到难”的原则进行编写,使各个层次的学生都能学有所获。
【不足之处】
一节课的时间毕竟有限,不能面面俱到,要求学生当堂复述有难度,还需在以后的复习中查缺补漏和加大检查的广度。
【使用建议】
1. 教师首先要熟练掌握本单元教学内容,明确每个单词及词组在单元中的位置及其用法,同时注意两人或多人小组合作或帮扶学习的方式使用, 加大检查普及率,加大学生合作学习活动的广度和力度,才能有效地增加课堂效率。本节课是以小组互助合作完成的,课前必须合理分组,以3-4人为一组,课堂中要求小组合作学习的,要让学生进行师徒互助,及时帮扶,保证人人进步,个个过关。并且要注意评价手段的运用,对学习小组及时评价,以保证学生旺盛的积极性。
2. 本节课容量大,词汇较多,为保证教学目标的顺利达成,需要提前安排学生进行充分的预习,至少通读词汇,能根据音标认读单词。必须提前准备课件及相应学案,让学生有本可依。复述环节优生可当堂完成,允许后进生第二天晨读后完成。
