Teaching Plan for Revision of Unit Four

Teaching Aims:
1. It's a revision lesson. Students will be able to talk about what you used to be like and how we have changed.
2. Students will be able to use the following words and phrases skillfully.
Words: humorous, silent, helpful, Asian, private, European, African, British, proud, absent, general, score, background, ton ,guard, speech, public, ant, examination, pride, introduction, interview, dare, require, influence, fail, seldom, exactly
Useful expressions: from time to time, deal with, in public, in person, take pride in, be proud of
3. Students will be able to use the structure skillfully.
Paula used to be really quiet.
I didn't use to be popular in school.
4. Students will be able to write a composition about one's changes.
Step1: Lead-in
Students answer three questions.
.A person likes to tell jokes to make others laugh. What kind of person is he? A boy likes to help others. What kind of person is he? A girl doesn’t like to talk with others. What kind of person is she? Revise humorous, silent, helpful
Teacher: Pay attention to the words in red. They are adjective words. We can use them to describe one's personality and appearance. Could you please give more words. Ask them to work in groups of four. Write down the words.
Step2: Practice
Teacher: When we describe others, we often talk about their personality, appearance and hobbies and interests. Check the words first and then ask them to read the words and phrases together.
Step3: Talking
Teacher : As time goes by or as the environment changes, everyone changes. So what were you like three years ago?
What did you use to do? What did you use to like doing?
Ask the students to talk about themselves . Check them individually.
Then ask students to talk about their friends.
Step4 : Exercise time
1. According to the two stories in Unit Four. Ask the students to finish off the exercises.
Ask: What can we learn from Candy Wang's story?
Everyone requires a lot of talent and hard work to succeed.
Don't give up when meeting difficulties.
What can we learn from Li Wen's story.
Parents love children most in the world.
They are always proud of their children.

Teach students how to write the beginning and the ending.
What kind of beginning is suitable for a composition?
We should quickly get to the point. In general, the beginning is the topic sentence or the main idea of a composition.
the beginning :It seems that Tom has changed a lot in the past few days.
the end: We are glad that Tom has made great progress.

Ask the students to write down the body of the composition. Give comparisons.
Step 5: Moral Education.
