Teaching Plan Background information: Students: 42 Junior high school students, Grade 1 Lesson duration: 40mins Book: Project English Teaching aids: tapes, blackboard, chalk, a map, cards Teaching contents: Unit 6 Topic 3 Section B 1a~1c ---- Page 43. Focal points and difficult points: 1. ask the way and give the correct directions 2. some new words and expressions Teaching objectives: By the end of the class, the students should be able to: 1. be familiar with the way of asking the way and giving directions 2. remember some new words and master the usage of them Teaching procedures: Step1. Review (7mins) a) Chant Teacher teaches students to chant. Stop, listen, and look, Before you cross the road; Use your eyes, use your ears, Before you use your feet b) Teacher asks and the students answer. T: Look at this map. You are standing at point B. Please tell me how to get to the bank/hospital …? c) Work in pairs. Two students a group, one student asks the way and the other answers. Step2. Presentation a) Teacher asks and chooses students to make a small dialogue with them. T: I’m looking for …. Where is it? S1: …. S2: Excuse me, …? T: Go along …. You can’t miss it. Through the dialogues between the teacher and the students, teacher gives more new sentence patterns. And write them down on the blackboard. b) Ask questions before listening. T: Could you tell me the way to Dinghao Building? Where is Beitai Road? c) Listen to the tape and check the answers together. Step3. Consolidation a) Read after the tape. b) Teacher helps the students to make up dialogues with the tape recorder. The recorder plays A and the class play B. Then change. c) Students read the two dialogues together. d) Listen to 1b and complete 1b. Listen to the tape, at the first time, students are required to finish these blanks, and at the second time, teacher will check the answers together. e) Let them close students’ books, just listen to 1b. And let the students read after the tape. f) Let them open books and read 1b together. Step4. Practice a) Work in pairs: Two students a group and act 1b out. 3~4 groups will act in front of the class. b) Find some strangers to ask the way. According to the map, one student leaves the seat and finds some other students to ask the way, the students who are asked will give the correct directions. Homework: Make up at least 2 dialogues about asking the way and giving directions according to the map on page 41. And write them down on the exercise book. Reflections: Teacher should give the students more inspiration, lead them to learn knowledge and give the students more time to practice.
