1. Students can listen for the information about a certain animal.
2. Students can describe and compare different animals. They can use modeled phrases and sentences to communicate with teachers and other learners.
3. Students can read some specific information about dinosaurs.
4. Students will be able to write down certain messages in class and write a passage about animals after class.
l Emotional aims:
After learning this lesson, students will be able to express their feelings about different animals.
Students analysis:
The students are in Grade Nine. They have learned English for about three years. They have just learned all the textbooks. They can express their thoughts in English. Students are interested in this topic, but if the tasks focus too much on oral English, they will not able to express themselves correctly, so I’d better focus on the rules in this revision lesson.
Language Focus: The comparison of adjectives.

Purposes
Step1 Lead-in
Ask the students if they are interested in Animals.
To stimulate students’ interests and get them to know the aim of this lesson.
Step2 List
1.A competition: look at the PPT and write out the names of the animals.
Revise the names of animals and the students will think of what animals they have learned before.
Step3 Describe
1. Show different animals and get students to use different adjectives to describe them.
2. Compare the animals in different ways.
1) A: What do you think of…? B: I think ___ is very …
2) A: Which is …, A or B?
B: I think ____ is (a little / much)… than ___.
3) A: Which is …, A , B or C?
B: I think ____is the … of the three.
= ____ is … than any other animal.
1. These tasks will remind the students of the different usages of adjectives.
2. Revise the adjectives in a communicative way.
Step4 Revise “as…as…”
Talk about some “world’s most” about animals and revise the use of “as…as…”.
Revise “as…as…” in a fun way, so that the students will have a deep impression.
Step5 Listening
Get the students to listen to a short passage about dinosaurs.
Then talk about the dinosaurs.
Extend the students knowledge about the animals and consolidate what have learned in this lesson.
Step6 Find out the rules
1. Give the students some sample sentences and get them to find out the rules in using the adjectives.
2. Do some exercises with the rules.
Consolidate what have learned in this lesson in class.
Step7 homework
1. Writing: Describe 3 animals with “as…as…”; “比较级than …”; “the +最高级”.
(1 animal at least 5 sentences )
2. Finish off the exercise paper.
Consolidate what have learned in this lesson after class.
