Unit8 Birthdays (story time)

学情分析:
本课所谈论的话题是日常生活中学生既熟悉又感兴趣的。学生在五年级上册已经初步认识了“first second third”这三个序数词，本单元通过谈论学生的生日日期进一步系统学习序数词及它的构成规律，学生应该能很轻松的掌握。十二个月份的单词学生记忆起来有一定的难度，所以从上一单元节日的话题学习开始，我就以月份的名称为班内的各个学习小组命名，一直延续到本单元的学习，学生记忆月份单词效果明显。在谈论“What do you do on your birthday?”时，学生已经会说一些活动类的词组，我在课上利用多媒体将新旧词组进行整合，便于学生积累词汇。在兼顾学生听、说、读的能力培养的同时注重学生写的练习，如：写下听到生日歌想到的词汇、完成表格family card。学生的参与热情被激发，就会很好的完成学习任务。值得注意的是：要求所有学生在一单元的学习中掌握所有的月份单词和序数词是比较困难的，可以在以后的教学中循环呈现逐步巩固，如利用每天的daily report , free talk.
教学目标：
1.学生能够在图片、录音的帮助下理解单词：birthday together ;能听懂、会说、会读、会写birthday、April、game；读准单词：the （如on the eleventh of May）.
2.学生能够在语境中运用句子When’s your birthday ? It’s on the…of…. What do you do on your birthday?I/We always/usually/often/sometimes…. 询问生日的具体日期以及谈论在生日里所做的事情。
3.学生能够根据ppt提示复述课文，达到学以致用的效果。
4.通过这一话题的学习，使学生了解中西方文化中不同的生日风俗习惯，感受英语的生活化。
5.通过family card，教育学生关注家人的生日，关爱家人。
教学重点：
学生能够在语境中运用句子When’s your birthday ? It’s on the…of…. What do you do on your birthday?I/We always/usually/often/sometimes…. 询问生日的具体日期以及谈论在生日里所做的事情。
教学难点：
学生能够准确的用英文表达日期，根据ppt提示复述课文。

教学过程：
Step1. Greetings and checkout the result of preview.
1. Teacher and students greet with each other.
T: Hello,boys and girls. Nice to meet you! I’m new here. Can you show me around?
Ss:….

Where is/are your classroom(s)/computer room(s)/music room(s)……?

2. Find and choose.
(ppt)T: Look at the ordinal numerals carefully. Try to find out the wrong word.
Ss find out the wrong words.
3. Present a calender of this year.
T:This is a calender. How many months are there in a year? Do you like March?.

T: Please guess which month I like?
Ss:Do you like January/March/June……?
T:Yes, I like April. Because my birthday is in April.

Step2. Presentation and practice.
1. T: Boys and girls, could you tell me your birthday date? Today we are going to talk about birthdays.
2. Present:birthday. Ss read after the tape.
3. Ask and answer in groups like this:
When’s your birthday?
It’s on/My birthday’s on…….
4. Report.
Ask some groups to show their dialogues,meanwhile ask questions according to their dialogues.(拓展相关内容)
Eg: When’s his/her birthday?
His/Her birthday’s on/It’s on…….
5. CAI to present a picture.
①T: This is my birthday party, on my birthday, my friends and I always sing birthday songs together.
Learn to read and understand: together.
②Listen to the song<happy birthday> together.
T: What would you think of “birthday”?
Ss write the words or phrases on their guided learning sheet.
③Play a game: Magic eyes.
T: If you see the words read aloud. If you see a hand please clap your hands twice.
6. T: On my birthday, my friends and I always sing birthday songs together. What about you? What do you do on your birthday?
Ss talk about the birthday activities in groups like this:
S1: What do you do on your birthday?
S2: I usually/always/often/sometimes…….
Teacher uses CAI to present the useful phrases on the screen.
7. T: Our friend Miss Li,Yang Ling and Mike are also talk about the birthdays. What are they talking?
① Listen and judge.
Ss listen to the dialogue and try to judge these sentences right or wrong?
② Play a game: Yeah Yeah Yeah No No No.
8. T:When’s Su Hai’s birthday ? What does Mike do on his birthday? Let’s watch the video?
① Ss watch the video.
② Underline the key words and phrases.
③ Fill in the form.
Summary(根据表格内容引导学生感受中西方生日文化的差异):
In China, people usually celebrate the birthday like this. They usually eat some noodles, we call these longevity noodles. And in the West, people usually celebrate the birthday like this.
9. Read the dialogue.
①Read the dialogue after the tape. Try to imitate the pronounciation and intonation.
②Three kinds of reading, Ss choose a way to read.
③Ask some groups to report.
Step3.Consolidation.
1. Retell the dialogue.
2. Make a family card. （情感教育）
T:When’s your grandma’s/grandpa’s birthday? Do you know?
Our parents and grandparents clearly remember our birthday. But we always forget their birthdays. Please remember their birthdays and give our best wishes to them.
3. ppt呈现：
To love and to be love is the greatest happiness of life!

1. To read the dialogue after class.
2. To surf the Internet and learn more about the birthdays in other countries.
