课题：Unit 7 What’s the highest mountain in the world?
教学时间：2014.4月28-5月6日
一．学情分析：学生在初二年级上册就已经学过adj , adv的比较级和最高级的用法和词的变化。
二．教情分析：在初二年级上册就教过adj，adv如何变为比较级和最高级，以及than 引导的是比较级of/in+范围标志的最高级，最高级前面要用定冠词the等。As…as 原级比较，the +adj 比较级…, the +adj 比较级.等的用法。
三.本单元教学目标：
1. 语言目标：掌握本单元的重点词汇及能用比较级和最高级讨论世界之最。
2.知识目标：can understand and talk about facts about the world, geography and nature.
3. 情感目标：培养学生热爱大自然，保护环境的意识，同时珠穆朗玛峰让人想到人类在强大的大自然面前那种征服自然的心情，以及人类将战胜一切的决心。
四．教学重点：
1. 词汇教学： square, meter, deep, desert, population, Asia, tour, tourist, wall, amazing, ancient, protect, wide, achievement, southwestern, thick, include, freezing, condition, succeed, challenge, achieve, force, nature, ocean, cm, weigh, birth, adult, bamboo, endangered, research, keeper, awake，excitement，illness, remaining, artwork, wild, government, whale, oil, protection, huge, Qomolangma, the Nile, the Caspian Sea, the Sahara, The Yangze River, the Yellow River, the Ming Great Wall, the Himalayas, the Amazon River, Chengdu Research Base
2. phrases: in size, in the world, 2 meters tall / long / wide/ , the biggest population, one of the biggest, the most popular
question, talk about, the ancient emperors, the main reason, as far as I know, no man-made objects, mountain climbing, the southwestern part of China, thick clouds, cover the top.

七． Teaching Steps
Step1 T： 先给出五幅图画的文字信息，大致介绍一下它们的地理情况，英文。Ask: What do you know about this number ,8,844.43?/ 9600,000 / 1025, / 6,671,
简单地介绍mountain, river, salt lake, desert, 提供图片介绍：米高 meters high 米深 meters deep 公里长kilometers long, 平方公里 square meters
S:完成1a中的配对活动，让学生朗读两遍。
Step 2 before doing 1b, 老师先带学生预测将会填什么词，引导复习 adj, adv的用法。 核对答案。让学生熟读。
T: Ask: What do you know about these places? Qomolangma is higher than any other mountains in the world. It is 8,844.43 meters high. 1b + 1a – places
Step 3 Add “ how to read numbers. million, 1,000,000 thousand 1,000 hundred 100
Step 4 Activity 2a – 2c
T: Write 6, 300 5,000 5, 465 300 Ask students to read and say how to read.

T: Ask students to look through the sentences in 2a. Then play the recorder. Then check the answers.

Step 5 Activity 2d
T: teacher lead into 2d role play 关于明长城的背景介绍。 Ask students to read by themselves. Ask：What’s the conversation about? It’s about a tour to the Ming Great Wall.
Then ask four to role play the conversation. Show questions on the Bb:
1. How long is the Ming Great Wall?
It’s about 8,850 kilometers long.
2. What does the guide say about the Wall?
It’s quite tall and wide. It’s the longest wall in the world.
The ancient emperors built it to protect their country.
There are no man- made objects as big as this .
Badaling is the most famous part of the Ming Great Wall.
学生听录音跟读，两人一组操练并表演对话，或变成地方教材。
