In each part, there are six students. Bring a competition into the class. At the end of the class, let’s check out which part is the best. Step 1 Warm up and lead in.(3’) Watch a video, and lead in the new lesson. T: what’s the video about? A smile can bring us a lot. Can you tell me what a smile can bring us? Let’s find out what the smile bring to Zhang Bei. Step 2 Fast reading and get the main idea. Reading method: When we write a story, we should focus on the five wh- questions: 1. Who is the main character? 2. What happens? 3. When does the main event or story take place? 4. Where does it take place? 5. Why? Read the passage quickly, and find out the following information about the story. When: Where: Who: What: Result: Lesson: Summary: In the early autumn of my first year at a new school, a girl gave me a smile. It changed my life. From then on, I know” smile at the world and it will smile back.” Step 3 Intensive reading. Read the paragraph one by one, find the answers to the questions. Reading method: As we all know, in Chinese, when we write a story, we should express the start of the story, the process of the story and the result of the story. In this story, we can get a lesson, so try to find them. Para1. What was the gift? Para2/3. What did the writer feel at first? Part 4/5. What made the writer feel happy? I didn’t know ____she was. Para 6/7. What happened after the smile? Para8. What advice does she give? What does “the smile” refer to? Step4. Let’s practice. Work in groups. Complete the sentences and retell the story. Pay attention to the orders. Step5. Retell the story. At first, no one knew me. I felt lonely and was afraid to make friends with anyone. Then one day, a girl looked at me and smiled. I felt happy, lively and warm. Now, the girl has become my best friend. We stick together like glue. I believe that the world is what you think it is. So at last, my suggestion is: smile at the world and it will smile back. Step6. Rewrite the story. According to fast reading and intensive reading, let’s rewrite the story. It’s the early autumn of my first year at a new school. At first, no one knew me. I felt lonely and was afraid to make friends with anyone. Then one day, a girl looked at me and smiled. I felt happy, lively and warm. Now, the girl has become my best friend. We stick together like glue. I believe that the world is what you think it is. So at last, my suggestion is: smile at the world and it will smile back. Step7.
