Have you ever planted a tree? Ask Ss: what’s the meaning of “the green life” Step 2 New words & phrases Show Ss some pictures, then teach Ss some new words. dig vt. & vi. 挖(洞,沟等) breadfruit n. 面包果 serious adj. 认真的,严肃的 reduce vt. & vi. 减少,降低 turn off 关上(开关) recycle vt. 回收利用,循环利用 wise adj. 明智的,充满智慧的 cause vt. 导致;造成 take a shower 淋浴 Step 3 role-play 1. Ask Ss to read the comic strip and then answer the following questions. (1). What is Hobo going to do? (2). Will more trees be planted this year? (3). What does Eddie like doing? (4). What will Eddie plant? 3. He likes digging in the garden. 4. He will plant breadfruit trees. Answer: to protect nature e.g. We can reduce air pollution by riding bicycle. 1. Step 4 A green life The class 1, Grade 8 students are talking about ways to live a green life. Look at the pictures below and match them with the correct sentences. Ask: How to live a green life? a. We can reduce air pollution by riding bicycles. b. We can save water by taking shorter showers. c. We can save energy by turning off the lights when we leave a room. d. We can protect the environment by recycling waste. Step 5 Listen and answer Ask Ss to read Part B and then answer the following questions. Ask: 1. How did Kitty go to school in the past? 2. What about now? 3. What does Millie think she should do to live a green life? 4. What about Daniel? 5. What about Sandy? Answers: 1. Her father used to drive her to school. 2. They take the underground now. 3. She thinks it’s wise for people to choose public transport and ride bicycles. 4. He thinks we can take shorter showers to save water. 5. She thinks we should remember to turn off the lights when we leave a room. Read the conversation after the recorder. Homework 1. Recite comic strip 2.
