外研社初三上册MODULE 8 TEACHING PLAN Content:Module 8 photos 一、 题材内容 本模块以摄影比赛为话题,介绍了托尼为参加摄影比赛的经历和摄影比赛的结果公示。通过介绍和摄影相关的内容展示了定语从句的用法。摄影比赛不是每位学生都参加过,但是其话题却为所熟悉的,所以有利于教学活动的设计与实施。通过本模块的学习,学生可以围绕这一话题进行大量的听、说、读、写方面的语言实践活动,可以增加学生的见识。让学生在使用语言的过程中学习语言,促使学生更有意识地自觉学习英语。教学中教师应随时随地灵活利用各种素材组织教学过程和内容。充分调动学生的积极性。 教学目标 1) 语言知识: 语音 能够掌握句子中单词的重读。 词汇 drum, bet, shot, kid, historic, square, category, manage, movement, feature, ceremony, comment, store 词组 by the way, even though, show…around 语法 能掌握which, who引导的定语从句。 功能 能够描述图片信息,掌握介绍信息的技巧;能够描述长、宽、高等度量。 话题 以“摄影比赛”为话题。 2) 语言技能: 听 能够听懂包含定语从句的句子;理解描述信息。 说 能够运用定语从句描写经历、比赛等。 读 能够读懂有关比赛的文章;提炼并利用比赛信息。 写 能够用定语从句描写摄影信息。 演示与表达 能够利用照片介绍摄影作品。 3)学习策略 学习一定程度形成自主学习,有效交际、信息处理、英语思维能力。 认知 联系,归纳,推测等技能。学习查词典,阅读报纸,提高自学能力。 调控 从同伴处得到反馈,对自己在叙述及作文中的错误进行修改。 交际 学习运用恰当词语谈论摄影比赛。 资源 通过阅读报纸等其他资源获取更多简单英语的有关摄影比赛的信息。 自学策略 能够根据自己的爱好检索资料,组织语言介绍自己所喜欢的东西。 合作学习策略 能与他人介绍摄影作品。 4)文化意识: 文化意识 可以通过摄影作品了解不同国家的风景,了解其不同的自然与文化。 5)情感态度: 通过摄影作品培养审美意识,培养对他人的欣赏态度。 6)任务:能够利用相关资源制作摄影作品介绍。 教学重点和难点 重点:1.通过摄影比赛训练学生的听、说、读、写能力,掌握运用恰当词语介绍摄影比赛。 难点:运用恰当词语介绍摄影比赛。 教学方法 基于课程改革的理念及“第二语言习得论”,培养实现人的可持续发展和人的主体精神的自我完善和发展所必需的能力和素质,运用任务型教学途径,围绕核心任务,设定小任务,开展和谐愉悦的课堂活动,强调兴趣第一的原则,初步设计“P—T—P”自主学习立体模式:pre-task…task-cycle…post-task。 二、 教材处理 核心任务:能够运用所学句型结构谈论摄影比赛。三个环节如下: pre-task:学生联系生活实际,激活背景知识,。 task –cycle:通过整个模块的听说读写的训练,强化介绍摄影比赛的表达能力,为完成任务做好铺垫 post-task:达成任务,展示成果,反馈学习情况 三、 教材安排 根据学生学习英语的特点和规律,我们把本模块划分为4课时: Period 1: Listening and Vocabulary &Pronunciation and Speaking Period 2: Reading and Vocabulary Period 3: Writing& Around the world &Module Task Period 4: Language in use 注:教学时应根据学生的学习水平、生活实际水平、接受程度及课堂出现的临时状况进行运用、调整及筛选。 『教学设计』 Title: Module 8  Public holidays Period 1: Listening and Vocabulary &Pronunciation and Speaking Teaching Content: Listening and Vocabulary and Pronunciation and Speaking Teaching Aims and Demands: 1. Language Knowledge Key vocabulary and phrases: drum, bet, shot, kid ,by the way Key structure: The restrictive attributive clause with which and who (重点) 2. Listening skill: To understand the conversation involving the use of the restrictive attributive clause . (难点) 3. Speaking skill: To retell Tony’s experience in preparing for the photo competition Learning strategies: Bottom –up approach and listening to the tape and do some exercises. Teaching Aids: Multi-Media (Tape recorder, video, OHP, handout) Teaching Procedures: Part I: Revision Task: Recall what we have learned in the last Module. Directions: Step one: Read through the words and expressions in the box and have the Ss. Repeat them after you. Step two: Ask them to label them in the pictures on the screen. Step three: List some words which are connected with Australia. Ask students to speak out as many as they can. Part II: Lead in: Task: Talk about some bands in the pictures. Directions: Step one: Introduce new words. Have the Ss repeat them chorally and individually. Step two: Talk about the pictures. Ask the students to look at the pictures about some famous bands. Elicit what they can see. If there are any new words, add them to the list on the board. Step three: Match the words with the pictures. Step four: Let them check with a partner. Step five: Then ask them to recite the new words. Part III: Listening Task 1: Listen and check the words in the box in Activity 1 as you hear them Directions: Step one: Ask the Ss to look at the pictures in activity 1 on page 64 Step two: Play the recording and have them listen. Step three: Play the recording again and have them Listen and check the words in the box in Activity 1 as they hear them Step four: Play the recording and have them check their answer with a partner Step five: Call back the answer from the whole class. Task2: Ss listen to the dialogue and answer the questions in activity 4 on page 65 Directions: Step one: Give them the questions and make sure the Ss understand them all. Step two: Play the recording and have them listen to the recording and focus on the sentence structure first time through. Step three: Play the recording again and have them get the answers, then check with a partner. Step four: Then Call back the answers from the whole class. Task 3: To understand the conversation. Directions: Step one: Ask the Ss to look at Activity 5 on page 65 Step two: Play the recording and have them listen. Step three: Play the recording again and have them complete the sentences. Step four:. Play the recording and have them check their answer with a partner Step five: Call back the answer from the whole class. Task 4: Activity 6 on page 65. Directions: Step one: Answer the questions. Use the words in the box. Have them check their answers with a partner Step two: Have them check their answers with a partner Step three: Call back the answer in a whole- class setting.( Collect the answers in complete sentences from the class.) Task 5: Listen and read: Directions: Step one: Play the recording and ask the Ss. to listen and read the conversation. Step two: Play the recording again and pause after each phrase, asking the Ss. to repeat chorally and individually. Step three: Put the Ss. into groups of 5 to practise the dialogue. Step four: They should repeat it several times, changing the roles each time. Part IV: Pronunciation Task: Listen and repeat in Activity 6 on page 65 Directions: Step one: Ask the Ss to listen and repeat. Step two: Play the recording again. Ask the Ss to pay particular attention to the stress. Step three: Ask the Ss to listen and repeat chorally and individually. Part V: speaking Task: Talk about a photo in this book Directions: Step one: Pair the Ss to ask and answer the questions. Step two: Listen to Student A’s description of a photo in this book. Guess which he / she is describing.. Part VI: A test Do Ex 1 on page 140 in the WB. Part VII: Homework: Recite the dialogue as fluently as possible. Period 2 Reading and Vocabulary Teaching Content: Reading and Vocabulary Teaching Aims and Demands: 1. Language knowledge: New words: historic, square, category, manage, movement, feature, ceremony Key structures: The restrictive attributive clause with which and who (重点) 2. To train reading strategies including taking notes, inferring , and reformulation (难点) 3. To identify information about photo competition Learning strategies: Communicative approach. Teaching Aids: Multi-Media (Tape recorder, video, OHP, handout) Teaching Procedures: Part I: Revision 1. Help students to revise what was learnt in Period one of this module. Show them some pictures about different bands. Have the Ss. talk about them. Revise the restrictive attributive clause with which and who. Part II : Preparation Task 1: Learn the new words. Directions: Label the pictures with the words. (1). Read through the words on the screen. Have the Ss. Repeat them after you. (2).Read the words separately and have them remember them. (3).Make some sentences with the words. (4) Call back the answers from the whole class. Task 2: Show the Ss some photos and talk about them. Directions: (1). Read through the table on the screen. Have the Ss. discuss the pictures with another pair. (2). Call back some comments from the whole class. Part III: Scanning and Skimming 1. Task: Read the passage and answer what categories the prizes were for. Directions: Step one: The teacher ask the Ss to read the passage . Step two: Ss read the passage and answer what categories the prizes were for. Step three: Call back the answers from the whole class, having individuals read out the answer 2. Task: Read the passage and complete the table. Directions: Step one: Ask the Ss to do activity 3 individually. Then check with a partner. Step two: Call back the answers from the whole class. 2. Task: Reading the passage. Directions: Step one: The Ss read the passage by themselves. Step two: Have individuals read out the passage. Part IV : Dealing with expressions. Part V: Language use 1. Check (√) the true sentences in Activity 4. Direction: Ss do it by themselves .Let’s see who can finish it as soon as possible. Then discuss in pairs and finally share their answers with the class. 2. Give the students some time to recall what they’ve learned in this class. Part VI: A test: Exercises 11 on page 138 in the WB. Part VII: Homework: .Retell the text. Period 3: Writing & Around the world &Module Task Teaching Content: Writing & Around the world &Module Task Teaching Aims and Demands: 1. Writing skill: Write about photo - taking. Improve the students’ writing ability (难点). 2. To learn about some famous photos 3. Make your cartoon story. (重点) Learning strategies Top-down and Interactive approach and do some exercises. Teaching Aids: Multi-Media (Tape recorder, video, OHP, handout) Teaching Procedures: Part I: Revision Task: Help students to revise what was learnt in last module. Directions: (1). Revise the words and phrases. (2).Let the Ss. retell the text. Part II: Writing: Write New Year’s resolution. Task: Write about your favorite photograph. Directions Step One: Read through the instructions with the whole class. Step two: Help the Ss to write some sentences as an example. Step three: Ask the Ss to do this activity individually. Step four: Call back a few examples from the whole class. Then summarize. Part III: Around the world Task: Learn something about famous photos. Directions Step One: Ask the Ss. to look at the different famous photos. Tell the Ss. some knowledge about them. Step two: Read the text and answer any questions the Ss have. Part IV: Module Task Task: Making a photo show Directions: 1. Activity 10 on page 71. Ask the Ss. to choose one they like best. Write a passage or a story about it, saying what / who it is and why it is important to them. 2. Circulate and monitor their production. 3. Arrange a show-and-tell session, so that the Ss. can see everyone else’s work. 4. Arrange a discussion about which passages are most successful and why. 5. Find some pictures to go with their description. Part V: Recalling Recall what we have learned today. Part VI: A test Do Ex.11 on page 143 and hand in immediately. Part VII: Homework: Do the Self-assessment on page 143. Period 4. Language in use Teaching Content: Language in use Key vocabulary: comment, store Key structures: The restrictive attributive clause with which and who Teaching Aims and Demands:1. To summarise and consolidate the words and expressions. (重点) 2. To practise The restrictive attributive clause with which and who (难点) Learning strategies: Formal instruction and task-based approach and interactive practice. Teaching Aids: Multi-Media (video, OHP, handout) Teaching Procedures: Part I Revision Help students to revise what is learnt in 3 periods of this module. Part II Language practice Task1: To summarize and consolidate the usage of The restrictive attributive clause with which and who Directions (1).Run through the examples with the Ss. and make sure that they are familiar with the use of the restrictive attributive clause with which and who (2). Ask the Ss. to repeat the sentences in the box. (3). Ask“Can you make other similar examples?” (4).Focus the Ss’ attention on the ways in which they are used: Task2: Complete the sentences with words in the texts in this module. Directions: (1). Do activities 1 and 2 on page 68 and 4 on page 69 individually. (2). Ask the Ss. to check with a partner. (3). Ask some of the Ss. to read their answers. (4). Summarize. Task 3: Work in pairs. Talk about the two pictures. Directions: (1). Ask the Ss. to do Activities 5 and 6 in pairs. (2). Write down some of the sentences. (3) Call back some examples from the whole class. (4) Circulate and monitor their production. (5) Call the answers back from some pairs. Task 4: Complete the passage using the words and expressions in the box Directions: (1). Ask the Ss. to complete the passage using the words and expressions in the box in activities 7 (2).Call back the answers from the whole class as complete sentences. Task 5: Listen Directions: (1). Ask the Ss. to listen to the tape and do Activity9 on page 70 individually. (2).Circulate and monitor their production. (3) Call the answers back from some pairs. Task6: Match the parts of the sentences. Directions: (1). Ask the Ss. to do Activity 3 on page 68 individually. (2).Circulate and monitor their production. (3) Call the answers back from some pairs. Part III: A test Do Ex 7 on page 141 in the WB. Let’s see who can finish it as soon as possible. Part IV: Homework: Finish all the exercises in the WB.
