Play the recording of Conversation 1~4.Students listen and write the numbers in the boxes. Check the answers. Jay:Well,I like piano music,but I don’t play the piano. Liu:Oh,but you play another instrument,don’t you? Jay:Uh,well,I play the stereo. Conversation 2: Peter:Hi,Lisa.What are you doing? Lisa:I need some more people for our baseball team. Peter:Lots of people would like to play. Lisa:Oh?How about Janet? Peter:Sure.Janet has been playing baseball for six years. Lisa:Good.I’ll call her.Now,Lin.Does she play baseball? Peter:Yes.She’s been playing for ten years. Lisa:Great.And Harry? Peter:Harry has been playing baseball for twelve years. Lisa:Twelve years!Great.Anyone else? Peter:Sure.Ask Nancy. Lisa:How long has Nancy been playing baseball? Peter:She’s been playing for four years. Lisa:Thanks,Peter. Conversation 3: Li Yu:Hello,Mary.Have you been to the aquarium before? Mary:No,I haven’t.Have you? Li Yu:Yes.I’ve been to the aquarium many times. Mary:Have you ever been to the zoo before? Li Yu:No,I haven’t. Mary:I’ve been to the zoo. Li Yu:I’ve been to the new theater.Have you been there? Mary:No,I haven’t been to the theater. Li Yu:Have you been to the new museum,Mary? Mary:No,Li Yu.I haven’t been to the museum.Have you? Li Yu:No,I haven’t.Let’s go tomorrow! Mary:Okay.Great! Conversation 4: Kim:Chen,what should I get my grandmother?It’s her birthday. Chen:Your grandmother?How about a calendar? Kim:No,too cheap. Chen:Mmm.How about a watch? Kim:No!A watch is too expensive. Chen:I see.How about a scarf?A scarf is a good idea. Kim:No,a scarf is too boring. Chen:Well,how about a hat?Would she like a hat? Kim:No,a hat is too personal. Chen:Okay,I know.How about flowers? Kim:Flowers?Yes,she’ll like that. CStep Ⅲ 2b This activity provides practice in listening for specific information. Listen again. Play the tape once.Let students listen for the sample answer. Play the tape again.Students listen and complete the task.Repeat playing the tape as often as necessary. Then check the answers. Repeat.Play the tape for the other tasks in the same way. Picture 4:watch—expensive scarf—boring hat—personal CStep Ⅳ 2c Activity 2c provides opportunities for open ended speaking and listening practice with the target vocabulary and structures. Replay the first dialogue about music.Tell students to listen for the structures. Read the instructions.Explain to students that they should make up their own answers,not just repeat what is on the tape. Ask two or more pairs of students to practice the sample dialogue for the class. Students complete the task.Walk around the room checking pronunciation.Ask some pair of students to practice their conversations for the class. CStep Ⅴ Summary In this class we’ve mainly reviewed the target vocabulary and structures. CStep Ⅵ Homework Ask students to write down the four conversations in their exercise books.
