Module 10 Computers
一、 题材内容
本模块话题是“电脑”。内容涉及如何使用电脑完成作业、世界不同地方的人们对电脑的利用程度等,既贴近生活,又开阔人们的眼界。题材新颖, 内容也吸引学生,利于激发学习兴趣, 并且通过展开听、说、读、写的语言实践活动有助于学生加深对计算机方面的了解和使用, 为以后鼓励学生使用英文软件、上网阅读英文埋下伏笔。教学中教师应随时随地以课本为出发点,灵活利用电脑组织教学过程和内容。
教学目标
1) 语言知识:
词汇

词组 Switch on,
语法 一般现在时的特殊疑问句。
功能 描述过程;询问并表达频度。
话题 以“如何利用电脑”为话题。
2) 语言技能:
听 能听懂有关电脑方面的简单词汇;能听懂一般现在时的特殊疑问句。
说 能就电脑的使用进行简单的问答。流利的说出含有本模块生词、短语。
读 能读懂简单的特殊疑问句极其回答,并能在多个问答中判断挑选出相关的一组。进行简单的阅读技能训练
写 1. 根据阅读内容,修改 错误信息的句子;
2. 在明白句意的基础上,用but连接分句。
演示与表达 能够简单表述计算机的使用。
3)学习策略
学习一定程度形成自主学习,有效交际、信息处理、英语思维能力。
认知 联系,归纳,推测等技能。注意发现合成词的合成规律举一反三地学习和记忆单词
调控 从同伴处得到反馈,对自己在叙述及作文中的错误进行修改
交际 学习运用恰当词语简单表述计算机的使用。
资源 通过其他资源获取更多有关“如何利用电脑”的简单英语。
自学策略 培养在词语与相应事物之间建立联想的习惯,形成话题联想的习惯。
留心日常生活中使用的有关电脑的简单英语
合作学习策略 互相学习,取长补短,把学习英语和熟悉电脑的基本应用结合起来
4)文化意识:
中外对比 了解不同国家和地区的人们使用电脑的情况。
5)情感态度:
通过学习电脑方面的词汇提高对英语的学习兴趣,特别是对电脑感兴趣的学生会大大提高学习英语的积极性。参加各种英语活动,克服困难,在新环境中进一步树立准确的语言学习观。
6)任务:设计一个有关电脑方面的问卷.
教学重点和难点
重点:1.掌握电脑方面的基本词汇,读懂含有一般现在时的句子,掌握一般现在时的特殊疑问句和答句。
难点: 掌握一般现在时的特殊疑问句和答句。
教学方法
基于课程改革的理念及“第二语言习得论”,培养实现人的可持续发展和人的主体精神的自我完善和发展所必需的能力和素质,运用任务型教学途径,围绕核心任务,设定小任务,开展和谐愉悦的课堂活动,强调兴趣第一的原则,初步设计“P—T—P”自主学习立体模式:
pre-task…task-cycle…post-task。
二、 教材处理
核心任务:能够运用所学句型结构向不同的朋友介绍如何利用电脑。三个环节如下:
pre-task:学生联系生活实际,激活背景知识,。
task –cycle:通过整个模块的听说读写的训练,强化“介绍如何利用电脑。”的表达能力,为完成任务做好铺垫
post-task):达成任务,展示成果,反馈学习情况
三、 教材安排
根据学生学习英语的特点和规律,我们把本模块划分为5课时:
Period 1: Vocabulary and Listening
Period 2 Reading and Vocabulary
Period 3. pronunciation and Speaking & Writing
Period 4. Language in use
Period 5. Around the world &Module Task
注:教学时应根据学生的学习水平、生活实际水平、接受程度及课堂出现的临时状况进行运用、调整及筛选。
『教学设计』
Period 1: Vocabulary and Listening
Teaching Content : Vocabulary and Listening
Teaching Aims and Demands:
1. Language Knowledge
Key vocabulary: computer, keyboard, monitor, mouse, print, connect, switch, finally, first, document, use, click, next, save, box, then, again
Key structure: wh-questions in Present simple imperative sentences (重点)
2, Listening skill: To understand conversations about how to use a computer and learn how to give instruction in the listening. (难点)
3. Affection and attitudes: We should be interested in computers and English.
Learning strategies:
Bottom –up approach and listening to the tape and do some exercises.
Teaching Aids: Multi-Media (Tape recorder , video, OHP, handout)
Teaching Procedures:
Part I: Revision
Task: Recall what we have learned in last module.
Directions:
Step one (1) Recall the names of different animals and continents.
(2). Make some sentences with the words. Put the Ss. in pairs to practice them
Step two: Label the pictures with the words.
(1). Read through the words in the box and have the Ss. Repeat them after you.
(2).Ask them to label them in the pictures on the screen.
(3).Make some sentences with the words. Ask students to speak out as many as they can.
Part II: Lead in:
1. activity 1and 2 and 3 on page 60.
Task: Introduce to them the new words.
Directions:
Step one: Read through the words in activity 1 on page 60 and have the Ss. Repeat them after you chorally and individually.
Step two: Ask the students to do activity 1 on page 60. Play the recording and ask the Ss. to listen
Step three: Play the recording again and have them number the words individually.
Check their answers with a partner.
Step four: Call back the answers a whole- class setting
Step five: label the parts of the computer.
Step six: Ask and answer about the pictures.

Part III: Listening
1. Task:. To understand conversations about how to use a computer.
Directions:
Step one: Give the Ss 2 questions:
(1) What does Linging ant to do on the computer?
(2) Who is good at using the computer?
Make sure the Ss. understand the 2 questions:
Step two: Play the recording and have them listen .
Step three: Play the recording again and have them write the answers individually.
Step four:. Play the recording and have them check their answers with a partner
Step five: Call back the answers from the whole class and
2. Task: Listen and read:
Directions:
Step one: Play the recording and ask the Ss. to listen and read the conversation.
Step two: Play the recording again and pause after each phrase, asking the Ss. to repeat chorally and individually.
Step three: Put the Ss. into groups of 2 to practise the dialogue.
Step four: They should repeat it several times, changing the roles each time.
3. .Task: activity 5 and 6 on page 61
Directions:
Step one: Write the words that go with each other.
Step two: Number the instructions in the correct order.
Step three: Call back the answer in a whole- class setting.
4. .Task: activity 7 on page 61
Directions:
Step one: Explain by saying “This activity is designed to check if you have understood the main ideas of the activity.
Explain that the students have to answer the questions.
Step two : Play the recording once while they just listen.
Step three Play the recording once again for them to Check the answers with a partner..
Step four : Play the recording once again for them, then once again to check. with a partner..
Call back the answer in a whole- class setting.
Step five: Ask different students to ask and answer the questions.
Part IV:
Part V: A test
Listen to the tape and translate some of the sentences into Chinese.
Part VI: Homework
Recite the short passage as fluently as possible.
Period 2 Reading and Vocabulary
Teaching Content: Reading and Vocabulary
Teaching Aims and Demands:

Teaching Procedures:
Part I: Revision
1. Help students to revise what is learnt in Period one of this module.
Show them some pictures about the new words in last period. Have the Ss. spell them chorally and individually.
2. Revise the third person singular of the present simple tense
Part II : Preparation
Task: Ask and answer the questions in activity 1 by themselves.
Directions:
Step one: Give them some examples. Let the Ss. ask and answer the questions by themselves.
Step two: Ask some pairs to come to the front to act the dialogue.
Step three: Ask the Ss. to decide which pairs are the best.
(Ask students to speak out as many as they can)
Part III: Scanning and Skimming
1. Task: Read the passage and match the questions with people who answer them.
Directions:
Step one: The teacher ask “Do you know how people in other parts of the world answer these questions?”
Step two: Ss read the passage and match the questions with people who answer them.
Step three: Call back the answers from the whole class, having individuals read out the answers
2. Task: Match the words in the 2 boxes.
Directions:
Step one: Ss read the passage and match the words in the 2 boxes individually and check with a partner.
Step two: Call back the answers from the whole class, having individuals read out the answers
Part IV : Dealing with expressions:
1.Do you have a computer at home?
主语是第二人称的行为动词的一般疑问句形式是在主语前加do。同样主语是第一人称复数和第三人称复数的行为动词的一般疑问句形式也是在主语前加do
Do they often go to the cinema on Sundays?他们经常在星期天去看电影吗?
Do we have a football?我们有足球吗?
2. I sometimes play Counter Strike and Fantasy. I never play Tomb Raides.
我有时玩“反恐精英”和“最终幻想”。我从来不玩“古墓丽影”。
这里“反恐精英”、“最终幻想”、“古墓丽影”都是电脑游戏的名称。
3. I don’t use the Internet or send emails.我不用因特网或者发送电子邮件。
or或者。否定句中表示并列。例如:
I don’t eat egg or meat.我不吃鸡蛋也不吃肉.
4. We have two, a computer and a laptop.
computer即“电脑”,是计算机最普通的叫法。Laptop computer指的是可以放在膝上使用的小型电脑,就是笔记本电脑,人们更多使用notebook 这个美国英语的表达方式。此处computer指台式电脑,即desktop computer之意。

1. Speaking skill: To be able to describe how to use the computer.
. Improve the students’ speaking ability. (重点)
2. Writing skill: To grasp the sentences connected by but. Improve the students’ writing ability (难点).
3. Affection and attitudes: We should be interested in computers and English.
Learning strategies
Top-down and Interactive approach and do some exercises.

Teaching Procedures:
Part I: Revision
Task: Help students to revise what is learnt in last module.
Directions:
(1). Revise the words about computers
(2).Put the Ss. in pairs to introduce how to use a computer.
Part II: Pronunciation and Speaking
1. Task: Grasp 1 /Fphonemes/t
Directions:
Step one: Play the recording and ask the Ss. to ./Flisten and read the phoneme /t
Step two : Play the recording again and ask the Ss. to repeat chorally and individually.
Step three: Put the Ss. in pairs to practice it.
2. Speaking
Task: Listen and repeat the question in activity 9 on page 61.
Improve the students’ speaking ability .
Directions
Step One: Pair the Ss. to do activity 9.
Step two: Have the Ss. to listen to the questions several times to practise.
Step three: Circulate and monitor pronunciation.
Step four: Call back a few examples from some pairs in a whole-class setting. Pay Particular attention to the spelling of “what’s” and “where’s”
3. Task: Work in groups .Test your partner about computers.
Directions
Step One: Group the Ss. and ask them to ask and answer the questions.
Step two: Circular and check their production.
Step three: Call back a few examples from some pairs in a whole-class setting.
Part III. Writing
1. Task: Write these sentences with but
Directions
Step One: Elicit from the Ss. the occasions when but are used in English:
Step two: Ask them to do activity 5 on page 63 individually and check their answers with a friend.
Step three: Call back the answers from the whole class, and write them on the board.
Step four: Summarise
1. Task: Write sentences about what you do and don’t do on your computer using but.
Step One: Let the Ss. make a list of things you do and don’t do on your computer talk
about them.
Step two: Write sentences about what you do and don’t do on your computer using

Step three: They can then exchange books for peer correction of facts and language. Part IV: Recalling
Recall what we learn today.

Do Ex.13 on page 111.and hand in immediately.

Part I Revision
Help students to revise what is learnt in 3 periods of this module.
Part II Language practice
I. Task: To summarise and consolidate the usage of interrogative, negative and affirmative sentences
Directions
1. Run through the examples with the Ss. and make sure that they are familiar with the use of adverbs of interrogative, negative and affirmative sentences.
2. Ask the Ss. To repeat the sentences in the box.
3. Ask ”Can you make other similar examples?”
4. Do activity 1 and 2 on page 64. Grasp the use of usually and often.
II. Task : .To consolidate present simple
1. Do activity 3 on page 64.
2. Ask the Ss. to call out the answers from the whole class.
3. Ask the Ss. to read the complete sentences.
Part III: Revise the words that we learned in this module:
Task: Computer the map and the phrases in activity 4 and 5
Directions
1. Look at the map and ensure that the Ss. Know what to do in activity 4 on page 64.
2. Ask the Ss. do activity 5 on page 65.
3. Call back the answers from the whole class, and make lists on the board.
Part IV:
Part V: A test
Do Ex 5 on page 109 in the WB. Let’s see who can finish it as soon as possible.
Part VI: Homework:
Do Ex 1 and 2 and 3 on Page 108 and Ex. 7 on Page 109 in the workbook.
Period 5. Around the world &Module Task
Teaching Content: Around the world &Module Task
Teaching Aims and Demands:
1. Get some information about American teenagers and the internet.
2. To summarise and consolidate the language covered in this module.
Affection and attitudes: We should be interested in computers and English.
Learning strategies: Formal instruction and task-based approach and interactive practice.
Teaching Aids: Multi-Media (, video, OHP, handout)
Teaching Procedures:
Part I Revision
1. Help students to revise what is learnt in 4 periods of this module.
2. Bring some pictures about. different habits in foreign countries into class. Talk about them.
Part II Around the world
Task: Learn something about American teenagers and the Internet
Directions:
1. Ask the Ss. to look at the different pictures about American teenagers and the internet Tell the Ss. some knowledge about American teenagers and the internet around the world by asking “Where are they from?” What are they doing?” “ What do they use computers for?” etc.
2. Compare the information with the teenagers in China.
Part III: Module Task
Doing a questionnaire about computers
Directions:
1. Activity 6. Ask the Ss. to make a questionnaire individually. Circulate and monitor their production
2. Activity 7
(1) Let the Ss. write the name of the persons and ask them the questions and make notes of the answers.
(2) Pair the Ss. to talk about the answers to each other..
3. Circulate and monitor their production
4. Choose a few of the best questionnaire of your students` work and place them in the journal.
Note: Let the Ss look at it when they have a spare moment. They may use computers if possible.
