Look at this picture. Who are they ? What are they doing? Where are they? Which school are they in? do you know how they spend their school day? Let’s open the books and learn now. Step2 Listening Ask students to listen to the tape without looking at the books, then answer the question: l Who is Millie’s best friend? (Amy) Step3 Reading Ask students to read after the tape for one time. Ask them to read by themselves next. Go through the classroom and provide help when they need. Step4 Scanning Ask the students to read the text quickly, try to find the answers to the following questions: 1 Does Millie like her school? (Yes, she does) 2 What’s her classroom like? (It’s big and clean) 3 What do Millie and her friends do at lunchtime? (They sit under the trees in the playground, they often chat with each other or play games.) 4 When does the school day start? (Eight ) 5 What do the students do first after they go to school? (They do morning exercise first) 6 How many hours does Millie spend on her homework? (About two hours) 7 Where does Millie go after school every Tuesday and Friday? (The Reading Club) 8 Who is in the Swimming Club? (Amy) Step 5 Exercise Make students complete part b2 Online friends, use the information they get from those answers. Check answers together, help students to find the wrong places and correct. Step6 Reading Ask students to read the text carefully, underline the new words that they can’t read and ask for help. Play the reading text for students, ask them to read after the tape, try to imitate the voice and pronunciation. Make students read in groups. Step7 Summary Ask students to read the text carefully again, catch some important information and make notes. Help students to understand the article better.
