1. 转换法
由一种词类转化成另一种词类，叫转化法。
• water (n.水) water (v.浇水)
• charge (n.电荷) charge(v.充电)
• yield (n.产率) yield(v.生成)
• dry (a.干的) dry (v.烘干)
• square(n.正方形) square (a.正方形的)
2. 派生法
通过加前、后缀构成一个新词。

部分前后缀举例：

Ø ageing- 老化 ageing effect , ageing loss

• 介词+名词 by-product 副产物
• 动词+副词 makeup 化妆品
check-up 检查
• 形容词+名词 atomic weight 原子量
periodic table 周期表
• 动词+代词+副词 pick-me-up 兴奋剂
• 副词+介词+名词 out-of-door 户外
4. 压缩法
去词头字母：
• EST: English for Science and Technology 科技英语
• EPT: English Proficiency Test 英语水平考试
