Neighbor
Describe a person who is living near of you.
Who is he/she?
How you know him/her?
When did you become neighbors?
Do you often meet?
Which kind of person he/she is
答答:
Miss Wang is my neighbor. I got to know her when she moved here last year. One day she
invited me to attend her birthday party. I attended the party and I kept good relationship
with her from the party. She is slim and good looking. She has long wavy hair and a round
face with a pair of beady eyes. She has a fair complexion which everyone admires. We
often go shopping once a week. Sometimes, I go to her house to have tea or coffee. She is
a warm hearted person and is always ready to help others. She is good at English and,
sometimes, when I don’t understand some English grammar, I will ask her for help. She is
always so glad and patient to explain them for me and she always encourages me to
continue studying English. Also she has great interest in playing tennis, and she plays it
well. She, also, can play the piano and sing sweet songs. I think she is a versatile person.

Part 3
Tell the difference between neighbors and friends
Hmm, friend is a necessary part of life. It is a person who can share your happiness and
pain you can tell him/her your secret. Neighbors is someone whom you meet everyday. If
they are warmhearted, you can help each other. In the contrast, you are the strangers.
Compare the difference of the character between city people and the countryside
people
In countryside, most places are less- developed, so the people are earthy and friendly.
Family member
Family member
Part2
Describe the person in your family who is most similar to you.
You should say:
1) Who this person is?
2) What type of person he/she is?
3) Why you two are similar?
And explain why you think you two are similar
答答:
I’d like to describe my grandfather who is very kind. He passed away before I went to
college. My grandfather worked in a factory as a technician. He couldn’t earn much but he
stuck to sending mother to school. Because he thought education could change a person’s
life. His hard working attitude really affects our whole family.
I was brought up at my grandfather’s home. I say he was so kind because I never forget the
efforts he made to help me read. I was five years old and I haven't learned to read yet. My
grandfather spent much time helping me and teaching me the right way to read. He was
patient person and taught me as possible as he could. To his happiness, the way worked.
So I learned to read quickly. Later, I went to primary school and performed well.
When I was to be in the middle school, I left grandfather’s home and went back to home.
However, the lessons I learnt from my grandfather were still in mind. “Trust yourself and to
be a good person”, which is basic belief to be a human being.
Part3
What do you think are the differences between families in and past and today, and
what have caused these changes?
About 20 years ago they were large in China. Each family had at least 4 or 5 children, but
nowadays they are small, especially in big cities. In countryside they have no more than
two children.
The main reason for this change is that we have the family planning policy, which allows us
to have one child. This policy has been executed for about 20 years.
What kind of family is yours? Is it of a typical family structure in China?
My family is large; I have Dad, Mom, two sisters, and four brothers. Our relations are very
strong. We usually help with each other. I am very proud of my family. My brothers, sisters
and I have already got married. Everyone has one or two children. I think my family is a
typical one.
Do you think that each person in a family should have a 页:46
clearly defined role?
Yes, my mother is responsible for housework and money, my father is responsible for
earning money and making decisions. They are all responsible for educate me.
Parents
Part2
Tell me about your parents
You should say
What they do at work and in their free time
Something about their characters
How they are similar and how they are different
And say how similar to your parents you think you are
答答:
I have a warm family. My parents love me. My father is 53 years old, he is a teacher and
very busy. He doesn’t have any holidays and weekends. Every morning he goes to school
very early and stays with his students until late in the afternoon. My mother is a doctor. She
is 51 years old, but she never tells others how old she is. She is very beautiful. She spends
most of her time reading and watching television and she also cooks meals for us every
day. My parents are like good teachers and helpful friends in my life. They are always ready
to help me at all times. My mother even likes my friend, and my father even likes my
teacher. My mother takes care of my daily life and my father always tells me what should do
and what I can’t do. I’m grateful for my parent and I’m sure without my parents I would be
far from happiness.
Part3
What’s your opinion of “the one-child” policy?
That’s a tough question. Allow me to explain my personal views by shortly mentioning the
following points: Firstly, I think we have to have the policy in China. Our population had
been growing to rapidly and something drastic had to be done. Secondly, I believe the
policy will give China a chance to move ahead in the world.
How do you think it will affect the society?
As soon as the population growth has stabilized, China will be able to make progress in the
fight against unemployment
Why do people in China traditionally want to have a son?
That’s an interesting question. Firstly, I believe that fathers all over the world want
someone to carry their name into the future. For example, in many western countries it is
customary for a boy to receive his grandfather’s name. A second reason that I could
mention is that parents worry about what will happen to them after they had retired. They
feel that when they have a son he would be able to provide for them in future.
Describe the position of woman in China?
One of the aspects I could tell you about regarding this topic is that there is some
discrimination against woman in China. For example, woman who are doing exactly the
same job as men, are getting smaller salaries. Secondly, women are not considered for
certain high level positions, like for example, in government. In addition, in many
communities in China, women are still regarded as inferior to men. This is particularly the
case in the rural communities. Lastly, parents prefer to have a boy as opposed to a girl.
This is an unhealthy situation, as it will disturb the balance between the number of men and
women in China in the years to come.
What are the causes of sex discrimination?
That’s an interesting question. Allow me to explain myself by shortly mentioning the
following points: Firstly, I believe that discrimination against woman have deep roots in
societies all over the world. In other words, it is not a present day phenomenon.
Throughout history woman have not enjoyed the same status as men. It is only recently
that woman have been filling the same positions in the work place. Lastly, I believe that it
will take much more time to eradicate this practice. For example, as more and more woman
becomes the sole breadwinners in families, they will have to be compensated as such
irrespective of their sex.
Child
Child
Part 2
Describe a child you know
What is the child’s name?
How is old the child?
What does the child like or dislike?
And explain why you like this child.
答答:
The child is my nephew, called Chen Wei Jun. It means something like being handsome
forever. His parents think he is the most beautiful baby in the world. So, they chose this
name for their son. Now he is over 4 years old and he is very lovely. But I think he seems to
be quite shy. However, once he gets to know you, you’ll find he is very talkative and even a
bit bossy. He likes to win and to be first at everything, but he will allow other children to take
their turns, too. I like him very much because he is very funny and loves to make all sorts of
word games with me. I feel unhappy when I miss him. So, I choose him because he brings
joy to me.
Part 3
What did you play when you are young, for example when you were 10 years old?
I would play football, I like playing football. I would accept professional training, and I would
play all day long. And I would play foot match as many as I can. I would become a famous
football player after several years.
What is the role for parents during children are growing up?
Parents play important role during the growing of children. Parents are children’s
abecedarian. Parent’s actions and ideas will influence greatly children. Parents are
educator. They should educate children, and tell them what should do and what mustn’t do.
Children often follow parents’ idea. So it is important for parents to make correct
decision.
What motivate people to develop their specialty?
I think different people have different aim to develop their specialty. It depends on their
value and their pursuit. Some people pursuit their ideality, while some pursuit money and
rights. All the reasons motivate people to develop their specialty.
During this 页:49
process which is more important, personal ability or motivation?
I choose motivation. Every body has potential, when they are encouraged by something,
their potential will be developed from inside. Maybe their personal ability is beyond the
requirements, once their potential explode, they will gain success.
Do children know the difference between right and wrong?
Well, I don't know much about this issue because I'm too young to be a parent and I'm no
longer a child. But my guess is that they don't really. I mean, I love children a lot but I think
it takes a number of years before you can really learn to know the real reason why
something is right or wrong and it takes a long time for people to really sympathize with
others in a sincere way. One example of this is the kid that teases others. He doesn't really
know it's wrong but he hears that his parents and teacher says it's wrong so he doesn't do
it. Another reason he stops doing it is because he's afraid he might get teased. But does he
really know it's wrong? I doubt it because he doesn't have the ability to know how to think
and realize the hurt another person feels
What is the population control situation like in China today?
It depends which place. I think it's having some positive effects in the city. In the country it's
more difficult to monitor so it's much stricter than in the countryside. There is a large
financial penalty for couples that have more than one child. It's also probably easier for the
government to monitor how many children are born into each family in the city than in the
countryside, just because everyone lives so much closer together
Should children be punished in school?
In my opinion children should be punished but not too often. I think the best way to deal
with children is to guide them through their mistakes and to try to help them see their own
errors. I mean, punishment should be used, but only when the children believe that they
can get away with something that they shouldn't do. Punishments also cannot be the only
way a child learns not to do something or otherwise he or she will only act out of fear of
consequences without knowing whether it's truly right or wrong. For example, if a boy
passes notes in class and is only punished, he may stop it only as long as the teacher is
around. But when he comes to another class with a teacher who's not as strict, he might
start doing it a gain. He hasn't realized why it's not the right thing to do.
What effects or benefits does learning an instrument have on people, especially
children?
Well, I'm no expert on the subject and to tell you the truth I'm not really sure. I don't play an
instrument so I have no personal experience to draw from. I suppose if I had to guess I'd
say that learning an instrument sharpens your mind because I'm sure it's not that easy. I
mean I know some people who'd practice for hours and so I think it must not be easy. I
guess it must also make you more creative because now you know a way to put notes
together.
