Basic Concepts We Need to Understand
I. Words
1、 名词(n):表示人、事物、地点或抽象概念的名称。名词可以分为专有名词&普通名词
专有名词是表示人名、地名、特殊事物名称等的特有名词,它的第一个字母要大写,如:

3、 动词(v.):表示动作或状态。一般分为以下几类:
*实义动词,也叫“行为动词”,顾名思义,就是有实际意义,表达实际动作的动词,实义动词又分为“及物动词”和“不及物动词”两类。
“及物动词”表达的动作可以施加在别的人或事物身上,如:

而“不及物动词”则正相反,它所表达的动作不能施加在别的人或事物身上,如:

*系动词:亦称联系动词(Link Verb)。有些不具词义;有些具有词义,但不能单独用作谓语,后边必须跟表语,构成系表结构说明主语的状况、性质、特征等情况。系动词分类如下:

*情态动词是一种本身有一定的词义,但要与动词原形及其被动语态一起使用,给谓语动词增添情态色彩,表示说话人对有关行为或事物的态度和看法,认为其可能、应该或必要等。情态动词后面加动词原形。如:

*助动词, 不能独立作谓语,只能作主要动词一起构成谓语,表示否定、疑问、时态或其他语法形式。

4、 形容词(adj.):表示人或事物的性质或特征。

5、 副词(adv.):修饰动词、形容词或其他副词,说明时间、地点、程度等。

6、数词, 主要分为以下几类

9、 连词(conj.):连词属于虚词之一,它不能在句子里独立地担任句子成分,而只能起连接作用--连接词与词、短语与短语、句子与句子。例如:

*连词主要可分成两类:
1) 并列连词用来连接平行对等的词、词组、或分句。按其表示的不同意思有下面几种:

2) 从属连词(Subordinating Conjunctions) 从属连词是用来引起从句的,它在主句和从句中间起连接作用。
10、感叹词(int.):表示喜、怒、哀、乐等感情。如:oh well hi ...
单词有十类,口诀要记牢:“名代形数冠,动副介连感”。
II. Sentence Components
1、 主语,是句子所要说的人或事物,通常用名词或代词担任。如:He is not our teacher.
2、 谓语,动词是说明主语的动作或状态的,主要由动词担任。如:Jack cleans the room.
3、 宾语,表示及物动词的对象或结果,常用名词或代词。如:He can spell the word.
4、 定语,修饰名词或代词,通常由形容词、代词、数词等担任。如:Shanghai is a big city.
5、 状语,用来修饰动词、形容词、副词,通常由副词担任, 一般有时间、地点、原因、条件、让步、目的、结果、方式、伴随状语。如:He works hard. You look much better.
6、 补语,一般用于主语或宾语后,对其起补充说明作用。
The good news makes me happy. We call him Mr. Wang.
7、 表语,在系动词之后,说明主语的身份或特征,常由名词、代词或形容词担任,如:
My name is Pingping. The weather today is good.
8、 同位语,通常紧跟在名词或代词后面,进一步说明这个名词或代词的情况。如:
Where is your classmate Tom? The famous pop star, Jay Chou, will come to Tianjin.
III. Basic Sentence Structures
1. S+V(vi.) (主谓结构)
我每天起床很早。__________________________________ .
2. S+V+P (主系表结构) 表语总是放在系动词后,并与系动词共同构成谓语。
这幅画很漂亮。_________________________ 我是学生。______________________________

3. S+V(vt.) +O (主+谓+宾)

有些及物动词带有两个宾语,一个指物,一个指人。指物的叫直接宾语,指人的叫间接宾语。间接宾语一般放在直接宾语的前面。如:
我爸爸给我买了一份生日礼物。________________________________________________
乔老师教我们英语。________________________________________________
你能告诉我去邮局的路吗?________________________________________________
有时也可把介词to或for加在间接宾语前,如:
Please give me that book. = Please give that book to me
