句型结构:
be + adj. + enough + to -infinitive
Step 2 lead-in
We use this pattern to describe a person’s personality and ability
Ø Millie is patient enough to listen carefully when others speak.
Ø Sandy is careful enough to notice small changes around her.
Ø Kitty is generous enough to share her things with others
Ø Simon is polite enough to queue in public.
Ø Amy is funny enough to make everyone laugh after class.

该句型常用描述人物特征的形容词。如

Pay attention
1. enough是副词,修饰前面的形容词。enough用作副词时,位置在被修饰词的后面。
He is old enough to go to school.
Andy is strong enough to be a player.
2. 在使用本句型的时候,要注意主语和be动词的一致性。形容词前没有任何诸如very,quite等之类的修饰词。
The room is big enough to hold 20 people.
此句型可以和so …that …互换。
Example: He is outgoing enough to make friends easily.
= He is so outgoing that he can make friends easily.

Join two sentences together
1.British people are very polite. They do not shout loudly in public.

Translate the sentences
1.她年龄太小了不能去上学。 be + too+ adj. + to -infinitive

1. too后接形容词,to后接动词不定式。
He is too old to climb the hill.
Andy is too shy to speak loudly in public.
2. “to be +too+ adj. +to infinitive”句型可与“so...that...”转换。
The boy is too short to touch the books on the shelf.
The boy is so short that he can’t touch the books on the shelf.
