1. to help the Ss master the reading skills of skimming and scanning.
2. to guide the Ss to understand the passage and learn about more details of Sport events .

改进后的设计

Teaching objectives:
1. Knowledge objectives:
To understand new words, phrases and sentence patterns in the reading passage;
To learn how to use them.
To learn some reading skills
2. Ability objectives:
To develop the Ss’ abilities of speaking, reading and writing ;
To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups ;
To improve the Ss’ reading skills, especially scanning and skimming.
3. Emotion objectives:
Develop Ss’ interest in English and Olympic games
Develop the Ss’ cooperation spirit to work with others

Teaching important points:
1. To help the students to understand the text better.
2. To help the students master the use of some important language points.
3. To help Ss get more details of the Olympic Games

Teaching difficult points:
1. The usage of some words, phrases and sentence patterns.
2. To encourage Ss to form a positive attitude in a new and challenging situation 
3. To motive Ss to be cooperative and helpful when working together
