Period 2 Page 32 Teaching Design
1. People's Education PressAnalysis of the teaching material:
This course is the second period of Unit 6,Grade 7 ,PEP New Target. Unit 6 is focused on talking about likes and dislikes. The teaching syllabus says language is for communication, the students should develop their listening, speaking, reading and
writing skills. The students should be able to use like and don’t/ doesn’t like after learning this unit. They are close to our daily life, students must have great interest to tell many things. And they also need to learn Yes/No questions and short answers. The students will meet many new words about food, fruit and vegetables in this unit, they need to divide the nouns into Countable or Uncountable nouns. On page 31 the students learn to ask and answer questions Do you like…? Yes, I do. /No, I don’t. In Period 2, they will go on using these expressions. They will meet some questions begin with Does, and they need to answer the questions with Yes, she/he does. /No, she/he doesn’t. They need to pay more attention to V-s /V-es and the use of do/does.
2. Analysis of the students:
The students have learned English for about at least 4 years so far, so they can
understand some words and some simple sentences. They have great interest in
English and like to express themselves in front of class. But the students are lacking
of listening skills. They need help to form their own proper learning habits, for example, they should get used to reading the listening material before they listen to the tape.
Learning methods:
The students need to form their own proper learning habits with teacher’s help.
3. Teaching aims and demands :
1) Knowledge objects:
A.In order to express their likes and dislikes, the students need to remember more words about food, fruit and vegetables, such as,burger/hamburger, vegetable, dinner, fruit, food, apple. On Page 32 they also need to learn to use birthday, week, think about, sure, right, then and How about…?
B. Target language:
---Do you like salad?
---Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.
Let’s think about…
Sounds good.
John likes hamburgers.
I don’t like salad.
Let’s have strawberries and apples then.
C. Grammar:
The students should pay more attention to V-s /V-es and the use of do/does.
2)Ability objects:
The students can express their own likes and dislikes with I like … I don’t like …
3) Moral objects:
The students need to know the importance of caring about other people’s likes and dislikes;
The students should know it’s important to have a balanced diet.
4. A. Important point:
The students can express their own likes and dislikes.
B. Difficult point:
The students should know how to use V-s /V-es and do/does.
5. Teaching aids:
The teaching syllabus says that it’s necessary for teachers to use modern teaching facilities. It’s of great help to increase the class density and improve our teaching result. It can also make the students reach a better understanding of the text by making the classes lively and interesting. At the same time, it arouses the students’ interest in learning English.
In this class we need to use the radio and PPT. There are several pictures in the PPT, at the beginning of the class the students look at the pictures. These pictures can remind the students of many words about food, fruit and vegetables.
6. Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warming-up
1)Brain-storming
The students have learned many words about food, fruit and vegetables. The teacher can ask some questions to help them review the words:
Do you like good food?
Can you tell us some food you like?
(apple, tomato, pear…)
Can you spell the word?
Each student can write a word on the blackboard.
2) The students read the words on the blackboard. The teacher help the students divide the words on the blackboard into three groups:
Countable nouns, Uncountable nouns, Countable &Uncountable nouns
Step 2 Presentation & Practice
Before listen to the tape, the students should read the words or sentences, and they should also look at the pictures carefully that they have in the listening practice. Then the students can get some information that they will meet in the listening material. This is good listening habit. The teacher should help the students form good learning habits.
1) The students read the words in 2a, then listen to the tape and circle the food they
hear. The teacher and the students check the answers together.
2) The students look at the pictures and talk about some food they can see in the
pictures. Maybe these words they will hear in the listening part. Then the students listen to the tape again and fill in the blanks.
The teacher needs to call out some students to read the dialogue, and then the other students check the answers. If they didn’t get the answers, it doesn’t matter, they will listen to the tape the third time.
3) The teacher plays the tape, the students listen to the tape again and answer the following questions:
Does the boy like the hamburgers?
How about the girls?
Does the boy like tomatoes/ice-cream?
The teacher should help the students answer the questions with
Yes, she/he does. No, she/he doesn’t.
4)The teacher can write I like … and I don’t like …on the blackboard. The
students read the expressions first, then they look at the words they wrote
on the blackboard.
The teacher needs to give the students some examples:
I like apples. I don’t like tomatoes.
Then the students try to express their own likes and dislikes with these structures.
5) Introduction:
I know a boy. His name is John. His birthday is next week. So his friends are preparing for his birthday dinner. But they don’t want John to know it.
Maybe the teacher can show a picture of birthday cake to the students.
The teacher should write birthday and dinner on the blackboard and explain the two words to the students.
The students read the dialogue in 2d. When they meet some new words they didn’t learn ,maybe they can try to guess the meaning of new words according to the whole passage. If the word is not important, escape it. If the students can get the right meaning, give them praise. And the teacher can let the students introduce his/her way of guessing words to the others.
The teacher and the students go on the new words On page 99 together.
The students listen to the tape of 2d and read the dialogue together. The students read the dialogue again. The teacher calls out several groups to act out the dialogue.
6)Language Notes:
---Do you like salad?
---Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.
Let’s think about…
Sounds good.
John likes hamburgers.
I don’t like salad.
Let’s have strawberries and apples then.
When we talk about something important, the teacher can ask some students to explain the notes first. This can encourage the students think of something new by themselves.
Step 3 Consolidation
The students should go on these useful expressions in this period again.

---Yes, I do. /No, I don’t.

Step 4 Homework
1)The students should finish all the exercises.
2)The students need to remember the new words and expressions.
3) The students should recite 2d.

Assessment:
讲课结束,回顾整个讲课过程,虽然实现了教学目标,教学环节齐全,重难点也较突出,通过导课及词汇复习,名词复数等环节充分的调动了学生们的积极性,既迅速消除了学生与老师间的隔阂,又能带动孩子们踊跃地参与到教学过程中来,师生互动性很强。通过听力练习,引导学生们养成在播放听力材料之前先浏览所给素材的好习惯。课后与学生们交流,孩子们觉得都能在老师的引导下以轻松、愉快的心情完成整节课的学习任务,但还有一些遗憾,需要在今后加以改进:
1. 因为一直用冀教版教材,对人教版不是很熟悉,部分可以进行整合的内容没有放在一起,教学内容还是按课本的布局来进行的,有点刻板;
2. 在做教学设计之前可以向其他老师请教该课时里可以整合或者改进的内容,那么在做教学设计的时候就能更有效率,同时在训练拓展方面也可以更深入一些,让不同知识基础的学生在这一节课里都能有所收获;
3. 在教学过程中对学生的知识掌握程度估量不足,重点确实突出了,但是难点突破不足,在今后的课堂训练中应注意由易到难拉开梯度,适当拓展,这样才能照顾到所有学生,让不同知识基础的孩子们都能有收获,而不仅仅是完成课本上的教学任务。
进步之路漫漫修远,还需要我不断努力、学习、提高,加油!
