Conversation -------Making a reservation
A: Walter, I’m treating Mr. Simpson and his team members from NCG to dinner tomorrow night. Where do you think I should take them?
B: Well, Mr. Simpson has very good taste in wine. And ACG is one of our biggest clients. I suggest you take them to a decent French restaurant.
A: That’s a good idea. Which one do you recommend? SMWS?
B: Or LPS. They are both listed in the gourmet magazine for having the most authentic French cuisine in town. But I heard LPS has a better wine selection.
A: We will go to LPS. Could you book a table for 4 at 7 pm?
B: Sure.
Walter dialed the number of LPS.
A: Bonjour LPS. This is Paul, how may I help you?
B: Hello, I’d like to make a reservation for dinner tomorrow.
A: How many people?
B: 4.
A: At what time?
B: 7 o’clock.
A: Ok, a table for 4 at 7 o’clock tomorrow. May I have your name and phone number, please?
B: Sure. It’s 555-4279. Please book the table under the name of Ms. Kinberly Walis.
A: No problem. We will hold the table for you until 7:15. See you tomorrow.
B: Thank you. Bye.
An hour later
A: Walter, did you already booked the table at 7 pm?
B: Yes, I did.
A: I just spoke to Mr. Simpson on the phone. He has a meeting tomorrow late in the afternoon. So he will be running a bit late for dinner. Could you change the reservation to 8 pm?
B: No problem. Is there anything else he would like me to check? Any special request for the meal?
A: Thanks for reminding me. I almost forgot that Mr. Simpson is a non-smoker. And his sister Mrs. Simpson is a vegetarian. Could you also ask the restaurant if they have a dress code?
B: Yes, I’ll do it right away.
Walter phoned LPS again
A: Bonjour LPS. This is Paul, how may I help you?
B: Hi this is Walter Parker, I phoned for reservation on behalf of Ms. Walis one hour ago.
A: Yes, I remember that. A table for 4 at 7 pm tomorrow? What can I do for you, Mr. Parker?
B: I’d like to postpone the dinner until 8. Also, could you arrange a table in the non-smoking area?
A: Sure, no problem. Is there anything you would like me to help with?
B: Yes, do you have any vegetarian dishes?
A: Yes, we do. We have a different menu for vegetarian guests.
B: Wonderful. One more question. Is formal wear required?
A: There is no strict dress code in our restaurant. However soothing is encouraged.(没听明白……)
B: I see, thank you for your help. Bye.
What do you recommend?
A: Today is our anniversary. We’d like to celebrate. What do you recommend?
B: Congratulations. Perhaps you would like to start with a bottle of champion and some appetizers.
A: That’s a good idea. What do you think dear?
C: Champion will be great. Could you also bring us some trifles?
B: Sure, I will be back with your champion and appetizers.
Five minutes later, their waiter is back with the champion
B: Could I take your order now?
A: What would you like for ontray?
B: Our Proscaco are very popular. Today we also have smoke salmon with muse. It’s not on the menu.
C: I’ll have the Askaco and French onion soup.
A: I’ll have the same, please. What is the chef’s special in the main course?
B: Our chef’s special is Conardi orange. It’s a whole roast duck with green salad.
C: A whole duck will be too much. What’s the Fundu?
B: It’s a type of hotpot. Today we only have beef Fundu.
C: I don’t eat red meat. I think I’ll have the sour fillet.
B: Our sour fillet is cooked in fruity white wine and seasoned with lemon juice. I’m sure you will like it. What about you, sir?
A: I’ll have the lamb stew.
B: Very well, here is the wine list. What wine would you like with your main course?
A: You got quite a selection here. Any recommendations?
B: Lamb stew goes very nicely with Red Godu. For you madam, this XXX is an excellent choice. It perfectly matches the source of your fish dish.
Choosing dessert
B: How is everything?
A: Great, the lamb stew is lovely.
B: I’m glad to hear it. Would you care for some dessert? or more red wine with cheese?
A: I don’t think I have any more space for dessert. Please give me a cup of coffee.
C: Well, I definitely have to try your Aplon Pear Tart. Is it very sweet?
B: I don’t think so. It’s actually light and refreshing. The aplonze pears are caramelized and baked with a bit of lemon peel. Would you like some conioegg (再次无能了……是某种酒) with your tart?
A: No more wine for me. Coffee will be fine. Thank you.
