3、urfellowcitizenstoknowhowmuchyoudidtocarryonthistradition.byyourgraciouscooperationinthetransitionprocess，youhaveshownawatchingworldthatweareaunitedpeoplepledgedtomaintainingapoliticalsystemwhichguaranteesindividuallibertytoagreaterdegreethananyother，andithankyouandyourpeopleforallyourhelpinmaintain
4、ingthecontinuitywhichisthebulwarkofourrepublic. thebusinessofournationgoesforward.theseunitedstatesareconfrontedwithaneconomicafflictionofgreatproportions.wesufferfromthelongestandoneoftheworstsustainedinflationsinournationalhistory.itdistortsoureconomicdecisions，penalizesthrift，andcrushesthestruggl
5、ingyoungandthefixed-incomeelderlyalike.itthreatenstoshatterthelivesofmillionsofourpeople. idleindustrieshavecastworkersintounemployment，causinghumanmiseryandpersonalindignity.thosewhodoworkaredeniedafairreturnfortheirlaborbyataxsystemwhichpenalizessuccessfulachievementandkeepsusfrommaintainingfullpr
6、oductivity. butgreatasourtaxburdenis，ithasnotkeptpacewithpublicspending.fordecades，wehavepileddeficitupondeficit，mortgagingourfutureandourchildrenX39;sfutureforthetemporaryconvenienceofthepresent.tocontinuethislongtrendistoguaranteetremendoussocial，cultural，political，andeconomicupheavals. youandi，as
7、individuals，can，byborrowing，livebeyondourmeans，butforonlyalimitedperiodoftime.why，then，shouldwethinkthatcollectively，asanation，wearenotboundbythatsamelimitation。 wemustacttodayinordertopreservetomorrow.andlettherebenomisunderstanding-wearegoingtobegintoact，beginningtoday. theeconomicillswesufferhave
8、comeuponusoverseveraldecades.theywillnotgoawayindays，weeks，ormonths，buttheywillgoaway.theywillgoawaybecausewe，asamericans，havethecapacitynow，aswehavehadinthepast，todowhateverneedstobedonetopreservethislastandgreatestbastionoffreedom. inthispresentcrisis，governmentisnotthesolutiontoourproblem. fromti

11、raiseourfood，patrolourstreets，manourminesandourfactories，teachourchildren，keepourhomes，andhealuswhenwearesick-professionals，industrialists，shopkeepers，clerks，cabbies，andtruckdrivers.theyare，inshort，;wethepeople，;thisbreedcalledamericans. well，thisadministrationX39;sobjectivewillbeahealthy，vigorous，g
12、rowingeconomythatprovidesequalopportunityforallamericans，withnobarriersbornofbigotryordiscrimination.puttingamericabacktoworkmeansputtingallamericansbacktowork.endinginflationmeansfreeingallamericansfromtheterrorofrunawaylivingcosts.allmustshareintheproductiveworkofthis;newbeginning;andallmustsharei
