Class profile and Timetable Fit Information about your class: age, level, number, motivation, etc. and how this lesson fits with previous and future lessons
The students aged 12 are in Pre-junior from Pudong Foreign Languages School. The whole class is divided into two groups in this course according to their mid-term exam scores, which aims to provide students with more chances to practise English and improve class efficiency. Half class composed of 21 students is comparatively at higher intermediate English level and the other half class composed of 21 students is comparatively at lower intermediate English level. Half of them are boys. Some are quite shy and quiet in class. They are afraid of speaking out in open class and lack confidence. Some are weaker in English. They think their English is not as good as the others. To change the situation, I have been trying to have the group do more pair work or group work so that they can become more confident and active by helping and sharing ideas with each other
This is the only period focusing on the topic BIRTHDAY, which relate to part of an exercise on Unit one, Module One, Oxford 6A. We’ll practise asking and telling our birth dates, discuss what might be the best birthday presents and learn the different foreign birthday culture. Students will do some activities to get the information of how foreigners choose a suitable present for a person, how they react to the present, how they celebrate a birthday, etc. Then they can act out a mini play of celebrating someone’s birthday.
