Lesson 2 Swimming for Gold 教学目标:1. 了解奥运会中的游泳项目及我国的在游泳项目方面的一些情况 2.了解有中外有关游泳队员的信息 3.口语表达你心中最喜欢的一名游泳队员 教学重点:1. Some useful words and phrase of section. 2. Let the students know about Zhuang Yong who got the first medal in swimming at the 1992 Olympic Games for her country — China. 3. Every student chooses a fact about swimmers from books, newspaper, and so on. And then read it to the class. At last summarize. 教学难点:1. Teaching the use of numeral. 2. If you are good at swimming, please say experiences about swimming. 3. Write a short passage — A day of our country swimmers 教学情景导入 In summer, what do you usually do? How do make yourself cool in hot weather? Swimming. It’s also a good sport. I think someone who is good at swimming can take part in the Olympic Games. And compete for medals. 教学过程设计 Step 1. Warming up. At first, look at the first picture. Let’s know a sport in the Olympic Games ——swimming. And then meet two swimmers in other two pictures, one is Zhang Yong and the other is Gao Min. Step 2. Discuss the questions in the “Think About It!”. ①Have you ever gone swimming? ②Where do you like to swim? ③List some other sports you are good at. Step 3. Learning new words. There are some new words in this text. Let’s learn them by heart. Study hard everyone. freestyle n. 自由泳 close adj. 接近的,紧密的adv. 紧密;接近 race n. 赛跑 swimmer n. 游泳运动员 spectator n. 观众;旁观者 up and down 上上下下 the others 其他的 catch up with 赶上 seem v. 好像;似乎 Step 4. Listening tasks: Listen to the tape twice first, second tell us the sentence is “True or false”. 1. Zhuang Yong won the first gold medal in an Olympic swimming event for our country. 2. The American spectators at the swimming pool were very excited. 3. Zhuang Yong began to swim at the age of eighteen. Step 5. Reading tasks: Please read the text aloud by yourselves. And then get the keys to the questions. ①When and where did Zhuang Yong win the gold medal? Barcelona, August 1992 ②Who was the second? Miss Thompson ③---Did they know who had won when the race was over? --- No Step 6. A 100-meter race is one of swimming. Let’s enjoy the picture and you may get some rules in this sport. Step 7. How do spectators feel when they watch sports events? I will give the key through the picture. Step 8. Language notes: Explain the text and master the language notes. 1. Zhuang Yong won the women’s 100-metre freestyle with a time of 54.64 seconds. 庄泳用54.64秒的时间,在女子百米自由泳中获胜。 (1)the women’s 100-metre女子百米 100-metre是合成形容词,这种合成形容词的特点是中间要用连字符号,名词不能用复数。如: ten-year-old十岁的 5000-metre race 5000米比赛 women’s是所有格形式。 women 是woman的复数形式 Women’s Day妇女节 【注意】:复数名词的所有格,如果是在词尾加-s构成的所有格,则只在s后加 “’”如果是不规则变化的名词复数或不是以s结尾的复数名词,仍在词尾加’s如:the students’ books学生用书 the Children’s Day儿童节 (2)second n.秒 ①second作名词,表示时间 “秒”,相关名词有minute分,hour时,five seconds 5秒钟 ②second还是two的序数词,意为“第二” the second lesson第二课 the second time第二次 3. They go as fast as they can! 他们尽力向前游。 as fast as they can=as fast as possible尽快地。as… as “和……一样”中间用形容词或副词原级。 ①They can ran away as fast as they could. 他们飞快地跑掉了。 ②Please speak English as much as possible (you can).请尽可能多说英语 4. They were very excited. 他们非常兴奋。 ⑴excited adj.激动的;兴奋的 Everyone looked excited.人人都显得很兴奋。 ⑵be excited at因而感到兴奋 He was very excited at the news.听到那消息他很激动。 ⑶【拓展】: ①exciting adj.令人激动的;令人振奋的 What exciting news! 多么振奋人心的消息呀! ②excite v.使……兴奋,使……激动 The news excited everyone. 这个消息使每个人兴奋。 We were excited by the news. 听到这个消息我们都很激动。 5.
