Procedures Step One Ask some questions to talk about the friendship between the students . 1 . Who is your friend ? 2 . Why do you play with him ? 3 . What is your friend like ? 4 . Where do you often go with your friend ? 5 . What did you do last week ? 6 . Where are you going next holidays / 7. Do you like watching soap opera ? 8 .Can you speak Japanese ? Step Two Collect the students' answers on the blackboard . Then ask the other students : What did Mary say just now ? Help the student answer the question : She said that Wang MuTing was her friend . She said they were going to Hainan the next holiday . ---------- Step Three Ask the students to sum up the rules . And write them down . Step Four 1a GROUPWORK Hello, class! We shall go to watch a soap opera first of all. But let’s talk about these questions first. What is a soap opera? What are some of the soap operas you know? Do you ever watch soap opera? What are some things that happen on soap opera? A soap opera is a television or radio program that airs in episodic installments. This means that each episode continues telling a story, which, in turn, tells more of the last episode's story. A single story on a soap opera can be told for weeks, months, or sometimes even years. 1b Listening and numbering Listen and number the statements [1-4] on page 26 in the picture. 1. She said she was having a surprise party for Lana on Friday night. 2. She said Lana thought she was coming to her house to study. 3. She said she was mad at Marcia. 4. She said she wasn’t going to Marcia’s house on Friday night. Turn to page 89. Read the conversation. Find out the useful expressions from the conversation have a surprise party for … on Friday night, come to one’s house to study, mad at …, go to one’s house on Friday night 1c Asking and answering In pairs you are to ask and answer about what the people in the soap opera said. A: What did she say? B: She said she was having a surprise party for Lana on Friday night. A: What did she say? B: She said Lana thought she was coming to her house to study. A: What did she say? B: She said she was mad at Marcia. A: What did Lana say? B:She said she wasn’t going to Marcia’s house on Friday night. Step five Exercises in class . Step six Homework : to remember the sentences they have learn in class .
