Module 6 Save our world Module task: discussing what you can do about pollution Unit 1 It’s wasteful to throw away paper and metal. Class model: Speaking and listening Teaching approach : Communicative approach Teaching aims: To listen and understand the sentences of everyday English; To understand the conversation; To learn some rules of word formation through some words in the module Moral aims: To make our mind to protect our environment. Interactive patterns: Groups, pairs, individual, choral Teaching aids: Tape recorder, OHP, handout and pictures Main points: Key vocabulary--- waste, wasteful, throw away, metal, energy, pollution, recycle, environment, hopeless, Key structure: Some rules of word formation Difficult points: Some rules of word formation Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Warming up and lead in 1. Lead in: Look at the video about the earth day and ask students to discuss what the video is about. The teacher shows the concept of “pollution” 2. Show pictures to ask students what sorts of pollution are and the reasons for that. 3. Then following is some pictures to let students know what are happening because of pollution so the earth is crying ,and it needs our help. 4. Introduction of the topic of this unit. Step 2. Listen and read 1. Listen to the conversation combined with two pictures in the book and fill in the blanks. 2.play the tapes. If necessary, play it twice. 3. ask students to fill in the blanks. Picture 1:The factory causes a lot of_____ and it goes into____and____. Tony thinks there should be some____against factories which causes pollution. Picture 2: It is a place where you can ___waste products ,such as glass and____and paper and things like that. 4. check the answers and read together, especially pay attention to some words. 5.Say something about green school. Green school in China is set up to use all resources(资源) to raise students and teachers’ qualities in protecting the environment. Students in those schools need to receive environmental education. Then, Listen to the conversation and answer the following questions. Check the answers and then play in roles and answer questions. Last, Read together and complete the table with the notes below. Watch a video about the some tips about how to behave well in your daily life. 2. Ask students to discuss in pairs , say something about what you can do in your daily life.
