Language functions: Learn how to deal with our problems
Key vocabulary and useful expressions:
deal with ,unless, unfair, affect, solve, challenge, regard…as duty, instead, with the help of… try one`s best.
Teaching aims: knowledge: words and useful expressions.
ability: reading strategies (Task-based reading)
emotion: learn to deal with problems around us
Teaching aids: flashcards. recorder, cards
Teaching procedures:
Step I. Lead-in
Warming up by three pictures, ask the students to talk about the pictures.
Step II: Scan the text, ask the students to read the text silently and then check the statements which are mentioned in the text.
Statements;1. by talking to people about them.
2. by thinking your problem is not big.
3. by breaking off a friendship.
4. by trying to forget about them.
5. by seeing a psychologist.
6. by thinking of a problem in a positive way.
Step III: listen to the text and ask the students to tell the main idea of each paragraph and also teach the students some reading skills to find the topic sentences.
Paragraph 1
We all have problems,and we should learn to deal with our problems.
Paragraph 2
We can solve a problem by learning to forget.
Paragraph 3
We must learn how to change these “problems” into challenges.
Paragraph 4
We can solve a problem by thinking something worse.

Step IV: Read the text loudly and then answer the questions .
then try to retell the text by joining the answers together. Questions:

Read the summary of the text:
We all have problems. We can easily become unhappy unless we deal with our problems. Most of us have been angry with our friends ,parents and teachers for some small problems. Young children can get on well with each other by learning to forget. Many students complain about too much homework and strict school rules. They must learn to change these problems into challenges,and we can find our problems aren’t so terrible by thinking of something worse.
Step V: Ability training: Work in groups of four to discuss in order to find more ways to solve the problems around us.

教学设计说明
本节课讲授的是人教版《新目标》九年级第一单元的大课文《How do we deal with our problems?》,是对任务型阅读教学模式的一节研讨课,体现以学生为中心,在做中学的教学理念,在阅读教学中,设计了不同的任务活动、任务环节,由简到繁、由易到难,层层深入。
教学一开始,用三幅图抛出目前中学生身上普遍存在的问题,三幅图分别是:
1. English is so hard, I want to drop it.
2. I’m too fat, and not handsome enough.
3. I often argue with my close friend.
这三幅图的内容都涉及学生的问题,紧密联系学生生活实际,为下一步解决问题埋下了伏笔。
导入课文,第一步是默读(给三分钟看完全文),让学生整体理解和把握课文,在读的过程中,教师可带领学生通过查读﹑略读等阅读技巧教会学生处理课文信息,这样学生就可以轻而易举地完成3c Scan the reading and check the ways of dealing with problems that are mentioned.。接下来是老师用分段听录音的方式,让学生听完后回答教师的提问,“What’s the main idea of the first paragraph?”以次类推,然后教给学生要学会抓每 一段落的topic sentence。之后,是完成三项任务,分别是句转、翻译和造句,基本处理了文中的一些难点、难句及词汇的运用。
然后让学生站起来大声朗读课文,通过大声朗读使学生更加透彻地理解课文内容,并能就课文内容回答问题,问题的设置,紧紧抓住了课文内容的主线,在课件设置上,也是问题出,答案的key words进入,最后要求同学们把答案串起来,便能复述课文,训练了学生运用学过的语言进行连贯表达的能力。
尝试应该多数属于孩子们,教学不只是告诉,更多是一种体验,探究和感悟,课堂是孩子们激情燃烧的动感地带,是他们求知创造,展示自我,体验成功的平台。这节课还设计了本课的结构图知识树,目的在于让学生通过小组合作学习的方式在亲身体验运用语言的过程中动态生成。
学生在这种无拘无束的状态中,每个人从不同的角度思维,用不同的知识和方法解决问题,他们畅所欲言,大胆发表自己的见解,这样才有利于培养学生的创新精神和实践能力。
